"Perawat merawat pasien tidak membedakan laki-laki maupun perempuan. Perawat laki-laki memiliki tantangan dan hambatan, khususnya dalam merawat pasien perempuan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali pengalaman perawat laki-laki dalam merawat pasien perempuan. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain kualitatif desriptif pendekatan fenomenologi, dengan 10 partisipan perawat laki-laki usia 26- 43 tahun, berpengalaman merawat pasien perempuan minimal 2 tahun. Penelitian menghasilkan 7 tema, yaitu perasaan tidak nyaman pasien perempuan dan perawat laki-laki; perawat menjaga kepercayaan dan privasi pasien; Identifikasi hal yang mengganggu citra tubuh, umur, area dan jenis tindakan sensitif; perhatian pada faktor agama, keyakinan, etika, dan budaya pasien; profesionalitas, peran dan kompetensi perawat; strategi komunikasi dan minta bantuan perawat perempuan berdasarkan metode tim; pandangan keterlibatan laki-laki dalam profesi perawat. Penelitian menyimpulkan dua tema utama, yaitu perhatian terhadap faktor agama, keyakinan, etika, dan budaya pasien; dan strategi komunikasi dan minta bantuan perawat berdasarkan metode tim. Pelayanan keperawatan disarankan meningkatkan pelayanan berfokus pasien dengan memperhatikan faktor agama, keyakinan, etika, budaya pasien, dan menggunakan strategi komunikasi dan meminta bantuan tim, sesuai standar akreditasi nasional rumah sakit.

The nurse caring for the patient does not differentiate between men and women. Male nurses have challenges and obstacles, especially in caring for female patients. This study aims to explore the experience of male nurses in caring for female patients. Nursing services are advised to improve patient focused services with regard to religious, belief, ethical, and patient culture factors, and use communication strategies and seek team assistance, according to the national hospital 39 s accreditation standards.

"Nurses provide care equally and do not discriminate between men and women. However, male nurses face challenges and obstacles, especially when they take care of female patients. This study aimed to explore the experiences of male nurses who look after female patients by using a descriptive qualitative design with a phenomenological approach. Ten male nurse participants aged 26–43 years and having an experience of caring for female patients for at least 2 years were included in this study. Seven themes were identified: the discomfort of female patients and male nurses; patient’s trust and privacy; the identification of factors affected by body image, age, and types of sensitive areas and actions; attention to the religion, personal beliefs, ethics, and culture of patients; professionalism, role, and competencies of nurses; communication strategies and asking for female nurses for assistance based on team methods; and the view of males in the nursing profession. This study focused on two of the main themes: attention to the religion, personal beliefs, ethics, and cultures of patients and communication strategies and asking female nurses on the team for help. Results suggest that nursing facilities need to improve their patient-focused services by considering a patient’s ethical and cultural concerns, using communication strategies, and seeking team assistance when needed in accordance with a hospital’s national accreditation standards."

Perawatan pasien dengan perilaku agresif dapat menjadi suatu hal yang kompleks, dikarenakan karakteristik pasien gangguan jiwa yang unik seperti kesulitan berkomunikasi, menarik diri, bahkan cenderung agresif. Kesiapan fisik dan psikologis mutlak diperlukan perawat dalam menjalankan tugasnya, karena kondisi mental pasien gangguan jiwa yang labil dan sulit diprediksi. Merawat pasien gangguan jiwa dengan perilaku agresif merupakan suatu kondisi yang dihadapi oleh perawat kesehatan jiwa khususnya di ruang PHCU. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memperoleh pemahaman yang mendalam tentang makna pengalaman perawat kesehatan jiwa dalam merawat pasien gangguan jiwa dengan perilaku agresif di Ruang PHCU RSJ. Desain penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi deskriptif. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini adalah 12 orang perawat kesehatan jiwa yang telah berdinas diruang PHCU RSJ minimal 3 tahun. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara mendalam dengan pertanyaan semi terstruktur. Hasil penelitian ini dianalisis menggunakan teknik Colaizzi. Penelitian ini menghasilkan delapan tema yaitu: 1) Pengetahuan perawat dalam merawat pasien, 2) Respon holistik perawat dalam merawat pasien, 3) Tindakan perawat dalam merawat pasien, 4) Hambatan sumber daya dalam merawat pasien, 5) Dampak merawat pasien terhadap perawat, 6) Koping perawat dalam merawat pasien, 7) Harapan Perawat dalam merawat pasien, 8) Hikmah merawat pasien. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan agar perawat kesehatan jiwa dapat menyiapkan kondisi secara fisik maupun psikologis dan mengoptimalkan kerjasama antar perawat dalam penanganan pasien gangguan jiwa dengan perilaku agresif.


Treatment of patients with aggressive behavior can be a complex matter, due to the unique characteristics of patients with mental disorders such as difficulty communicating, withdrawing, and even tending to be aggressive. Nurses absolutely need physical and psychological readiness to carry out their work, because the mental condition of patients with mental disorders is unstable and difficult to predict. Caring for mental patients with aggressive behavior is a condition faced by mental health nurses, especially in the PHCU room. The purpose of this study was to gain a deep understanding of the meaning of the experience of mental health nurses in caring for mental patients with aggressive behavior in the PHCU Room of RSJ. The research design uses qualitative methods with a descriptive phenomenological approach. Participants in this study were 12 mental health nurses who had worked in the PHCU RSJ room for at least 3 years. The data collection method was carried out through in-depth interviews with semi-structured questions. The results of this study were analyzed using the Colaizzi technique. This study produced eight themes, namely: 1) Knowledge of nurses in caring for patients, 2) Holistic responses of nurses in caring for patients, 3) Actions of nurses in caring for patients, 4) Resource constraints in caring for patients, 5) Impact of caring for patients on nurses, 6) Coping of nurses in caring for patients, 7) Nurses' expectations in caring for patients, 8) Wisdom in caring for patients. This study recommends that mental health nurses prepare physical and psychological conditions and optimize collaboration between nurses in handling mental patients with aggressive behavior.

"Latar belakang: Salah satu tugas seorang perawat adalah memberikan asuhan keperawatan. Yang dimaksud asuhan keperawatan adalah penjabaran dari target mengenai tingkat kinerja, kualitas struktur, proses pemberian asuhan keperawatan, hingga diperoleh suatu hasil yang kemudian dapat dinilai. Di RSU Bintang sendiri kinerja perawat belum dilakukan secara baik dan benar, dan dalam sidak acak selalu terdapat rekam medis dokumentasi asuhan keperawatam yang tidak lengkap, sehingga ini merupakan cerminan dari kurangnya kinerja perawat. Disisi lain pendokumentasian merupakan indikator dari mutu rumah sakit, sehingga hal tersebut menjadi masalah apabila pendokumentasian tidak dilakukan dengan lengkap dan akurat. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan pengkajian berbagai faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kinerja perawat dalam melakukan dokumentasi asuhan keperawatan di Unit Rawat Inap RSU Bintang Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan analisis cross sectional yang dilakukan pada perawat di instalasi rawat inap RSU Bintang. Penelitian ini melakukan evaluasi terhadap hubungan dari motivasi, kepemimpinan kepala ruangan terhadap kinerja perawat dalam melakkukan pendokumentasian asuhan keperawatan. Hasil: Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara asppek motivasi kerja yaitu persepsi peran (OR: 12,38; p=0,001), desain pekerjaan (OR: 8,72; p=0,002), kondisi kerja (OR: 29,2; p<0,001), dan pengebangan karir (OR: 7,31; p=0,005) terhadap kinerja perawat. Kemudian berdasarkan variabel kepemimpinan kepala ruangan, aspek kredibilitas (OR: 12,91; p<0,001) dan komunikasi (OR: 8,8; p=0,003) memiliki hubungan dengan kinerja perawat dalam melakukan dokumentasi. Melalui analisis multivariate ditemukan bahwa persepsi peran merupakan faktor yang paling berpengaruh dalam kinerja perawat dalam melakukan dokumentasi asuhan keperawatan (aOR: 19,2); p<0,05). Simpulan: persepsi peran, desain pekerjaan, kondisi kerja, dan pengembangan karir, kredibilitas kepala ruangan, dan komunikasi kepala ruangan merupakan faktor motivasi yang mendukung untuk tercapainya kinerja perawat yang baik dalam melakukan pendokumentasian asuhan keperawatan di unit rawat inap RSU Bintang.

Background: One of the duties of a nurse is to provide nursing care. What is meant by nursing care is the elaboration of the target regarding the level of performance, the quality of the structure, the process of giving nursing care, to obtain a result which can then be assessed. In the Bintang Hospital itself the nurse's performance evaluation has not been done properly and correctly, and in random inspection there is always an incomplete medical record for nursing care, so this is a reflection of the lack of performance of nurses. On the other hand documentation is an indicator of hospital quality, so that it becomes a problem if documentation is not done completely and accurately. Objective: This study aims to study various factors that influence the performance of nurses in conducting nursing care documentation in the Star Hospital RSU Inpatient Unit Method: This study used a quantitative approach with cross sectional analysis carried out on nurses at the inpatient hospital of Bintang Hospital. This study evaluates the relationship of motivation, leadership of the head of the room to the performance of nurses in documenting nursing care. Results: This study shows that there is a relationship between work motivation aspects, namely perceptions of role (OR: 12.38; p = 0.001), job design (OR: 8.72; p = 0.002), work conditions (OR: 29.2; p <0.001), and career development (OR: 7.31; p = 0.005) on nurse performance. Then based on head room leadership variables, aspects of credibility (OR: 12.91; p <0.001) and communication (OR: 8.8; p = 0.003) have a relationship with the performance of nurses in conducting documentation. Through multivariate analysis it was found that perceptions of role were the most influential factors in nurse performance in carrying out nursing care documentation (aOR: 19,2); p <0.05). Conclusions: perceptions of roles, job design, working conditions, and career development, credibility of the head of the room, and communication of the head of the room are supporting motivational factors to achieve good nurse performance in documenting nursing care in the inpatient unit of Bintang Hospital."

"Sebagian besar pendekatan perawat dalam merawat pasiennya ditentukan oleh peran gender, sehingga masalah seperti kesetaraan dalam pemberian perawatan keperawatan spiritual menjadi sangat penting. Studi-studi yang ada belum secara menyeluruh memfokuskan perbedaan peran gender dalam asuhan keperawatan spiritual. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menyelidiki hubungan antara kompetensi dalam pemberian asuhan keperawatan spiritual oleh setiap perawat berdasarkan peran gender bagi pasien perawatan paliatif kanker di Rumah Sakit Kanker Dharmais, Jakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain korelasional kuantitatif potong-lintang dengan 110 perawat sebagai partisipan melalui teknik quota sampling dengan Bem Sex Role Inventory-Short Form (BSRI) dan Spiritual Care Competence Scale (SCCS) sebagai instrumen penelitian untuk mengukur peran gender dan kompetensi asuhan keperawatan spiritual. Hasil analisis bivariat menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan yang signifikan secara statistik antara feminitas (r = 0,530, p < 0,001) dan maskulinitas (r = 0,611, p < 0,001) dengan kompetensi asuhan keperawatan spiritual, serta adanya perbedaan dalam kompetensi asuhan keperawatan spiritual antara perawat dengan peran gender androgynous dan undifferentiated (p < 0,001). Rumah sakit atau fasilitas kesehatan yang memiliki perawatan paliatif bagi pasien kanker seharusnya mendorong perawat, terlepas dari jenis kelamin biologisnya, untuk mengekspresikan kedua peran gender karena berkorelasi positif dengan kompetensi asuhan keperawatan spiritual. Penelitian selanjutnya dapat mengeksplorasi lebih lanjut karakteristik masing-masing peran gender sehingga dapat ada bukti yang lebih definitif mengenai hubungan antara peran gender dan kompetensi perawatan keperawatan spiritual.

Every nurse regardless of their sociodemographic background must be competent in providing quality spiritual nursing care. As gender roles dictate much of nurses’ approach in caring for their patients, matters such as equality in the provision of spiritual nursing care becomes urgent. Existing studies have not focused thoroughly on the gender roles difference in spiritual nursing care. The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between the competence of spiritual nursing care provision by each nurse by gender roles for cancer palliative care patients at Dharmais Cancer Hospital, Jakarta. This study used quantitative correlational cross-sectional design with 110 nurses as participants through quota sampling with Bem Sex Role Inventory-Short Form (BSRI) and Spiritual Care Competence Scale (SCCS) as the research instruments to measure gender roles and spiritual nursing care competence. Univariate analysis results showed that as much as 42,7% nurses had undifferentiated gender role followed by 39,1% nurses having androgynous gender role; while the median score of SCCS was 107, indicating high competence in spiritual nursing care. Bivariate analysis results showed that there were statistically significant correlations between femininity (r = 0,530, p < 0,001) and masculinity (r = 0,611, p < 0,001) with spiritual nursing care competence and that there was a difference in spiritual nursing care competence between nurses with androgynous and undifferentiated gender roles (p < 0,001). Existing hospitals or health facilities with palliative care for cancer patients should encourage nurses regardless of biological sex to express both gender roles as they correlate positively with spiritual nursing care competence. The next research can explore more regarding each characteristic in each gender role so that there can be more definitive evidence regarding the relationship between gender roles and spiritual nursing care competence."

"Latar belakang: Angka kejadian infeksi dapat diturunkan dengan pelaksanaan Pencegahan dan Pengendalian Infeksi (PPI) dalam asuhan keperawatan secara komprehensif oleh Perawat. Pada kenyataannya asuhan keperawatan yang komprehensif pada pasien dengan risiko infeksi masih rendah. Perawat membutuhkan model peran yang baik dari kepala ruang dan fungsi manajemen kepala ruang memberi pengaruh positif pada pelaksanaan PPI.
Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis hubungan peran dan fungsi manajemen kepala ruang dengan pelaksanaan PPI dalam asuhan keperawatan.
Metode: Penelitian kuantitatif dengan rancangan cross sectional dilakukan pada 221 perawat yang bekerja di rumah sakit pemerintah di Jakarta yang dipilih dengna menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen penelitian terdiri dari peran kepala ruang, fungsi manajemen kepala ruang, dan pelaksanaan PPI dalam asuhan keperawatan yang disebarkan pada responden melalui tautan google form. Hasil uji validitas dan reliabilitas instrumen mendapatkan nilai r = 0,313-0,818 dan cronbach’s alpha = 0,922-0,945.
Hasil: Hasil penelitian ini mendapatkan ada hubungan peran kepala ruang dengan pelaksanaan PPI dalam asuhan keperawatan dengan kekuatan sedang dan arah positif  (p = 0,0001, r = 0,489), demikian juga  fungsi manajemen kepala ruang mempunyai hubungan dengan pelaksanaan PPI dalam asuhan keperawatan dengan kekuatan kuat dan arah positif  (p = 0,0001, r = 0,515. Faktor yang paling memengaruhi pelaksanaan PPI dalam asuhan keperawatan yaitu fungsi pengorganisasian (nilai koefisien Beta = 1,145), fungsi pengendalian (nilai koefisien Beta = 1,125), peran decisional (nilai koefisien Beta = 1,145), dan peran interpersonal (nilai koefisien Beta = -1,010).
Kesimpulan: Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa peran dan fungsi manajemen kepala ruang berhubungan dengan pelaksanaan PPI dalam asuhan keperawatan. Faktor yang paling memengaruhi pelaksanaan PPI dalam asuhan keperawatan adalah fungsi pengorganisasian. Rekomendasi yang diberikan yaitu meningkatkan peran dan fungsi kepala ruang dalam PPI terutama fungsi perngorgaisasian untuk mengoptimalkan pelaksanaan PPI dalam asuhan keperawatan dan peningkatan pelaksanaan PPI dalam asuhan keperawatan terutama pada tahap diagnosis keperawatan.

The incidence of infection can be reduced by implementing the Infection and Prevention Control (IPC) in comprehensive nursing care by nurses. In fact, comprehensive nursing care for patients with risk of infection is still low. Nurses need a good role model from the head nurse and the management function of the head nurse have a positive influence on the implementation of IPC.
Method: This study aimed to identify and analyze the relationship between the role and function of head nurse management and the implementation of IPC in nursing care. Quantitative research with cross sectional design was conducted on 221 nurses who worked in government hospitals in Jakarta who were selected using purposive sampling technique. The research instrument consisted of the role of the head nurse, the management function of the head nurse, and the implementation of IPC in nursing care which was distributed to respondents via the google form link.
Results: The results of the validity and reliability test of the instrument get r value = 0.313-0.818 and Cronbach's alpha = 0.922-0.945. The results of this study found that there was a relationship between the role of the head nurse and the implementation of IPC in nursing care with moderate strength and a positive direction (p = 0.0001, r = 0.489), and the management function of the head nurse had a relationship with the implementation of IPC in nursing care with strong strength and positive direction (p = 0.0001, r = 0.515. The factors that most influence the implementation of IPC in nursing care are the organizational function (Beta coefficient value = 1.145), control function (Beta coefficient value = 1.125), decisional role (Beta coefficient value = 1.145), and interpersonal roles (Beta coefficient value = -1.010).
Conclusions: This study concludes that the role and management function of head nurse are related to the implementation of IPC in nursing care. The factor that most influences the implementation of IPC in nursing care is the function of organization. This study recommend to increase the role and management function of the head nurse in IPC  to optimize the implementation of IPC in nursing care and increase the implementation of PPI in nursing care, especially nursing diagnosis.

"COVID-19 telah menjadi pandemi sejak diumumkan oleh WHO pada Februari 2020. Tingginya angka kematian akibat komplikasi penyakit ini menjadi perhatian berbagai pihak. Salah satu komplikasinya adalah gagal napas. Masalah gangguan pertukaran gas adalah masalah yang umum ditemukan pada pasien COVID-19. Namun, keterbatasan ruang ICU di rumah sakit akhirnya membuat inovasi dalam perawatan pasien, terutama untuk mengatasi masalah gangguan pertukaran gas. Posisi prone yang sebelumnya diberikan pada pasien yang terintubasi, kini mulai direkomendasikan untuk pasien COVID-19 non intubasi. Karya ilmiah ini melaporkan studi kasus mengenai perawatan pasien COVID-19 dengan masalah gangguan pertukaran gas. Seorang wanita usia 49 tahun dengan keluhan utama batuk berdahak yang sulit dikeluarkan dan sesak napas. Hasil CXR menunjukkan adanya gambaran pneumonia dengan opasitas bilateral di seluruh lapang paru. Hasil pemeriksaan laboratorium menunjukkan klien terkonfirmasi COVID-19. Pasien juga mengalami hipoksemia dan membutuhkan suplemen oksigen tambahan. Dukungan ventilasi merupakan salah satu intervensi untuk mengatasi masalah gangguan pertukaran gas. Awake self prone position dan incentive spirometry dapat diterapkan sebagai intervensi dukungan ventilasi dengan cara mengatasi mismatching ventilasi-perfusi sehingga dapat meningkatkan fungsi paru. Pelaksanaan intervensi ini harus dilakukan secara berkelanjutan, sehingga diperlukan pemahaman dan komitmen dari perawat maupun dari pasien itu sendiri.

COVID-19 has become a pandemic since it was announced by the WHO in February 2020. The high mortality rate due to complications of this disease has attracted the attention of various parties. One of the complications is respiratory failure. The problem of impaired gas exchange is a common problem found in COVID-19 patients. However, the limited ICU space in hospitals has finally made innovations in patient care, especially to overcome the problem of gas exchange disorders. The prone position, which was previously given to intubated patients, is now starting to be recommended for non-intubated COVID-19 patients. This scientific paper reports a case study regarding the treatment of COVID-19 patients with impaired gas exchange problems. A 49-year-old woman with the chief complaint of coughing phlegm that is difficult to expel and shortness of breath. The CXR results showed a picture of pneumonia with bilateral opacities in all lung fields. The results of laboratory tests show that the client is confirmed to be COVID-19. The patient is also hypoxaemic and requires oxygen supplementation. Ventilation support is one of the interventions to overcome the problem of gas exchange disorders. Awake self prone position and incentive spirometry can be applied as ventilation support interventions by overcoming ventilation-perfusion mismatching so as to improve lung function. The implementation of this intervention must be carried out on an ongoing basis, so it requires understanding and commitment from both the nurse and the patient themselves."
