"Economic interaction has enlarged the international trade in goods and services, but the safe and humane flow of persons across international borders remains a challenge in a State-based model of territorial jurisdictions. Once an immigrant enters a new host country the guarantee of respect for their human rights comes into question. Indeed, the legal and political constructions of inclusion or exclusion of migrants from the political community touch at the very heart of the cosmopolitan spirit of universal human rights. This book brings together leading experts in the fields of migration and human rights law to examine central problems in the protection of the human rights of migrants. They explain the theoretical background of present issues in the area including, immigrant integration policies in Europe, the social and labour rights of migrants, the conditions and legal frameworks affecting migrant women, asylum seekers and refugees worldwide among many others. It explains in a clear and critical manner the legal and political implications of migration today in the context of an evolving globalized world."

This study focuses on the identity and contextual space meaning for migrant in the new surroundings based on the short story der Hof im Spiegel by Emine Sevgi Özdamar, who was a migrant herself. The research was conducted with qualitative research and analytical descriptive methods, and it shows that the ‘ich’ character was experiencing something that can be called as displacement. This displacement leads to the confusion of identity of the aforementioned character, and thus the character feels like she can not belong to the place she is currently in, but also have no choice but to stay there, as her ‘home’ that she had known of has disappeared. This research show the possibility of a migrant experiencing a displacement and how they deal with it.

"This book provides an interesting insight into issues of migration and diversity in Asia, focusing on different scales, and incorporating everyday experiences through in depth analyses of different case studies. In drawing on a range of academic disciplines, and in utilizing numerous methodological approaches, the chapters within the book also demonstrate a breadth and depth of knowledge, thereby contributing not only to migration literature in the region, but migration literature more broadly, subsequently offering a complex negotiation of the different pathways of migration research and beyond. In focusing on migration as both historical legacy and contemporary issue, the chapters within the book bring new light to migration research, demonstrating the inherent importance of looking back in order to look forwards, and drawing together the global and the local through a process of ‘glocalization’ (Massey, 1991).
