"It unfortunately reveals that regional autonomy, and so to education autonomy as an integral part of it, as reflected through UU No.22 Tahun 1999 has not touched the very basic of cultural values and process of democracy, one core element it should significantly contain with. Central as well as regional policy makers and politicians, especially, have spent much their time to physical need and financial balancing debates between central and locals and deliberately forget the intrinsic cultural issue of the term, that is democracy as a cultural value formation process. Taking our current national education situation into account this article tries to introduce some cultural principles education autonomy should aim at. Based on holism in cultural approach education autonomy should pay attention seriously to strengthening community support to education."

"Fokus dari kajian ini mendeskripsikan bagaimana respon dan pengalaman hidup warga masyarakat petani lokal yang terkena dampak pembangunan bendungan Jatigede yang pelaksanaannya tertunda-tunda. Respon-respon mereka mencerminkan bagaimana proyek pembangunan bendungan Jatigede yang tertunda selama kurang lebih 27 tahun membawa pengaruh berbeda pada mereka. Kajian ini membahas respon dan pengalaman warga petani Bantarawi dengan merujuk pada konsep petani dari Scott dan Wolf. Selain itu, kajian ini juga merujuk pada pandangan Vayda dan beberapa ahli lain mengenai pengetahuan, memori, dan pengalaman hidup. Data dari kajian ini diperoleh melalui penelitian etnografi. Kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa bendungan Jatigede menjadi dilema tersendiri saat proyek telah berjalan dan tertunda karena masalah sosial, ekologis dan dana. Sebagai akibatnya, kehidupan sosial ekonomi warga lokal mengalami perubahan seiring dengan bagaimana mereka merespon keberadaan dan pelaksanaan proyek pembangunan bendungan yang tertunda itu.

This study focus to describes how the response and life experience community of local farmers that affected by delayed Jatigede dam construction. Their responses reflect how Jatigede dam construction projects delayed for more than 27 years have different effects on them. This study discusses the experience of residents and Bantarawi farmers' response with reference to the concept of farmers by Scott and Wolf. In addition, this study also refers to the views from Vayda and several other experts on knowledge, memory, and life experiences. Data from this study was obtained through ethnographic research. This study indicates that Jatigede dam is a dilemma when the project has been running and delayed caused by social, ecological and funding issues. As a result, social and economic life of local residents had been through the change considerably as to how they respond to the existence and implementation of dam construction projects are delayed."

"This paper is an ethnographic study to understand the prison?s culture in the correctional institutions ?X?. The writer has examined carefully the way of living day by day directly and raised a variety of mutual agreements among the residents behind the prison walls. The results in the investigation field shows the limit and deprivation that appears as an interpretation actor, not the institution, that occur according certain contexts. The prison?s culture not only discuss informal agreement but how the agreements can be maintained by the actors in everyday?s life utilization in fulfilling the needs and self-interests"
