"This paper looks at the pattern of inequality and convergence of Indonesia's regional income since the 1970s. Although economic growth frameworks have mostly been applied to analyse cross-country growth and convergence, some regional country studies have been done. However, the impact of the macroeconomic conditions at the national level on regional inequality and the convergence process need to be incorporated.
Indonesia is an interesting case study, since the economy has been through much turbulence in the lasat few decades from external shocks as well as some major national policy changes. The different record in sub national development has made regional inequality and growth a crucial topic."

The thesis aim to examine the hypothesis that regional disparities tend to persist because there are differences of implementing regional policy in economic development. This issues has become a crucial topic in economic regional analysis both betbre decentralization implementation and atter. This thesis investigate the determinant factors of provincial convergence over 20 years (since |985 to 2006). Using [3-conditional convergence analysis based on panel data, we found that speed of income percapita convergence by 2,6 percent with halfltime to reached steady state condition by 26 years. In this period, share of investment that represented by domestic fixed capital fomtation, share of agriculture sector and manufacture industry have important role to converging intcrprovincial income percapita in Indonesia. Investigation the convergence for shorter time period present speed of convergence by 2,02 percent and l,96 percent for |985-1995 and 1995-2006 period respectively. The phenomenon of deindustrialization that happened for 1995-2006 reduce the speed of convergence. Comparing of convergence for before (l985-2000) and post decentralization (2001-2006) get the speed of convergence by 3,30 percent and 1,06 percent, respectively. There are different determinants of source of income percapita growth for those periods."

This research focuses on tourism activity and regional economic growth in provinces of Indonesia. The purpose of the research is to firstly prove the existence of spatial spillover effect from tourism activity, and then to identify the factors that is affecting tourism activity in Indonesia at the provincial level. This research also tests the existence of absolute beta convergence between the economic growth of each province of Indonesia, and then seek to test whether tourism activity can affect the steady state to which the economic growth convergence heading. Understanding these facts could help policy makers in make the right development policy and also to better understand the effects of the policy. This research concluded that development in tourism produces spatial spillover effect and positively increase the speed of convergence of regional economic growth between provinces in Indonesia."

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to measure the regional economic convergence in ASEAN involving the framework of single-track countries who join only the RCEP and dual-track countries who join both trade agreements of RCEP and CPTPP. This study uses two measurements; the partial correlation between GDP per capita and its annual growth (β- convergence) and the income per capita dispersion over time (𝜎-convergence). It suggests that there is a strong evidence of absolute and conditional β-convergence in all of the three cases with 𝜎-convergence only occurs in dual- track countries. These findings serve as prior characteristics of convergence before comparing the impact of RCEP and CPTPP later on when it is effectively implemented. Moreover, this study also generates results for the leading factors in condition to the occurrence of convergence.

Key words: regional economic convergence; RCEP; CPTPP; β-convergence; 𝜎-convergence; ASEAN

"The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the role of human capital in term ofthe share government expenditure on health sector to GDRP on regional economic growth in Indonesia. The method which used to examine the relationship between dependent and independent variables is cross-section OLS regression by regressing data into three parts, which are five years and ten years in order to see the impact of independent variables especially the share of government expenditure on health sector to GDRP on economic growth as a dependent variable at both of short term and long term. Data used on the regression process is from twenty-four provinces in Indonesia There are in- relevances of data in two provinces, Aceh and Maluku. In these provinces, economic growth during period 1994-2003 is much less than other provinces. It can be caused by the conflicts and political situation in those provinces during that period. Therefore, this paper only regresses the data of 24 provinces by omitting Aceh and Maluku. In general, the share of government expenditure on health sector to GDRP is statistically significant in influencing economic growth, except at period 1994-1997 at the first estimation and period 1994- 1999 at the third estimation. It can be caused by economic not conducive in 1997 condition that had been crisis, because of economic crisis."
