ABSTRACT
Ahmadiyah religious group had entered Indonesia since 1920s. This group is divided into two different subgroups, namely Gerakan Ahmadiyah Indonesia GAI and Jemaat Ahmadiyah Indonesia JAI . Since the post reform period, JAI community has to face a less favorable situation. Fatwa Kesesatan issued by Majelis Ulama Indonesia MUI in 1980 had put this group into an even more difficult position. The post reform government seemed like gave a greater space to the Islamic antiahmadiyah dominant groups to express violence towards this group. JAI communities in various areas experienced many forms of discrimination and violence, such as the closure of mosque, assault, and expulsion. Dealing with this situation, JAI with their belief of peaceful Islam, tried to develop persuasive cultural approaches to survive and subsequently accepted by the society. This article aims to analyze JAI as a new social movement based on their cultural approaches to maintain their existence in the society. These efforts reflects the occurence of the revival of collective identity, which also becomes the characteristics of this movement."

"The political discourse in India experienced a fundamental shift when the Sachar Committee Report revealed that despite the national and state governments minority development policies and programmes, the Muslim community was among the most deprived and backward, worse off than the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, in most of the outcome indicators. Many new pro-poor and inclusive policies were introduced as a response to the recommendations of the report. This book makes a critical assessment of the impact of post-Sachar policies, bridging the gaps in empirical measurements and analytical documentation, and making them accessible to the public at large. The book recommends policies and institutions required for ensuring the constitutional right to equal opportunity for all Indian citizens, especially minorities, such as setting up of an Equal Opportunity Commission and systematically computing a diversity index to improve the process of assimilation of the deprived groups, including the minorities, into the national mainstream.

ABSTRACT
Technological developments in the globalization era makes it easier for people to exchange information from and to all over the world. It encourages people to continue following the movements of the world, as an effort to survive, or what Bauman named it as survival and gratification consumerism method. The pattern of consumerism leads to the existence of flawed consumers, namely those who are unable to keep up the global world movement in liquid modernity era. In the midst of liquid modernity, Bauman thought that the presence of terrorism is not possible. Using descriptive analysis and alternative explanation methods, this study found that some of the premises or reasons used by Bauman to support his claims contains logical inconsistencies if traced in fundamentalist ideology. By rectifying some of the inconsistencies found in Bauman rsquos concept, this study found that terrorism remained undoubtedly in the era of liquid modernity, even showing its still growth as a result of liquid modernity, not as something that was separated from it."

This research discusses audiences’ reception towards femvertising by exploring the life experiences of dark-skinned and curly-haired Indonesian women regarding the dominant beauty standards and how they perceive the advertisement #CantikSatukanKita by Dove Indonesia. Through qualitative approach and in-depth interview, this study describes the relationship between audiences’ reception towards the dominant beauty standards in Indonesia with their readings toward femvertising #CantikSatukanKita by Dove Indonesia. The result showed that even though audiences performed dominant reading towards the beauty standards, as time went by they started to gain power to counter the discourse. Once they have countered the dominant discourse, then they are exposed to #CantikSatukanKita. Audiences’ background and life experiences shaped them into performing dominant and negotiated reading to Dove Indonesia’s #CantikSatukanKita."

"This project is unique in the field for a number of reasons, both in structure and in content. Specifically, it will have leading experts on specific age groups (Childhood to Adolescence, Young Adulthood to Middle Age, and The Elderly) within the cultural groups of interest (European-Americans, African-Americans, Asian-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, and Native Americans) contribute a chapter covering current research on both positive and negative functioning for each population. Each chapter will present basic demographic information, strengths that contribute to resilience, and three significant challenges each group faces to maintaining mental health. Each chapter will then include an integrative section, where ideas are advanced about how the strengths of each group can be harnessed to address the challenges that group faces. To conclude, each chapter will propose future directions for research which addresses integrative approaches to mental health for each group, and the implications that such approaches could have for future treatment. The main points of each section of each chapter will be visually summarized in a concluding table."

"Same-sex attracted, and non-gender conforming African-Americans are substantial in number, yet underrepresented in the social and behavioral science literature. This volume addresses the issues of African-American LGBT psychology as a case of indigenous psychology. The authors present the research of scholars who are developing theory, practice, and services that are couched within the specific cultural complexities of this population. Some key topics addressed in AFrican-American Issues in LGBT Psychology are gender, spirituality, family, racism, "coming out", generational differences, health and safety issues, urban vs. rural realities, and implications for researchers."

"This book deals with military defeat and national catastrophe, and their implications for society. When the First Balkan War broke out in October 1912, few Ottomans anticipated that it would prove to be a watershed moment for the empire, ending in atrocities, ignominy, national catastrophe, and the loss of its remaining provinces in the Balkans. Defeat at the hands of an alliance of Balkan states comprising Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia and Montenegro created deep national trauma and led to bitter soul-searching, giving rise to a so-called culture of defeat in which condemnation, exclusion of the non-Muslim minorities, criticism over the project of Ottomanism, and calls for national rejuvenation prevailed in a way clearly at odds with the reformist discourse which followed the young turk revolution of 1908. This book discusses some of the different visual and written products of the defeat, published in Ottoman local languages (Turkish, Arabic and Ladino), with the aim of understanding the experience of defeat, how it was perceived, analyzed and commemorated by different sectors in Ottoman society, to show that it is key to understanding the decisions and actions of the Ottoman political elite during the subsequent world war one and the early decades of the Turkish Republic."

This paper deliberated victorious phenomenon of Sadiq Khan, whom successfully elected to be the Mayor of London during the 2016 election. Using qualitative method, the discussion inside this paper mainly analyzed some factors which support Khan’s triumph in the election. The main factor is the encouragement and the high acquisition from Black and Minority Ethnic  (BME) in London. The second factor is the racial campaign that conducted by Zac Goldsmith (Dog Whistle Campaign) as Khan’s rival throughout the election. The concept that is used in this research is Minority Voting Factors and the theory of Voting Behavior in analyzing both supporting factors. The result of this research is the founding of economical and socio-cultural inequality that suffered by BME group in London make them aware about their need of the right leader to represent their aspirations. Sadiq Khan, as the Mayor of London candidate, considered to be capable to make their dreams come to life. Other than that, Zac Goldsmith’s ‘racial’ campaign in the election caused him to get a lot of criticism from the people of London. A campaign that contains racial issues absolutely denied in London, since it is to be a city that accepts diversity by this time.
