Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menjelaskan perilaku penemuan informasi editor media online LenteraTimur.com dengan menggunakan model perilaku penemuan informasi Wilson yang pertama untuk menjelaskan perilaku penemuan informasi di tingkat makro dan model perilaku penemuan informasi Ellis untuk tingkat mikro. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif, dan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif analisis. Sampel yang digunakan adalah Pemimpin Redaksi sebagai editor LenteraTimur.com. Pengumpulan data penelitian diperoleh dari hasil studi literatur, wawancara, dan catatan lapangan. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa kebutuhan informasi editor LenteraTimur.com adalah 5W+1H dengan perspektif dari kebudayaan setempat. Sumber-sumber informasi yang digunakan oleh editor LenteraTimur.com adalah sumber-sumber primer yang didapatkan melalui wawancara langsung, internet, maupun buku fisik. Sedangkan hambatan-hambatan yang muncul adalah kemampuan evaluasi pengetahuan, latar belakang etnis, peran sebagai jurnalis, keuangan, serta kompetensi kontributor. Sedangkan pada tingkat mikro, pada tahap starting peran media sosial sangat membantu untuk mengetahui topik yang akan dicari, pada tahap chaining dilakukan penelusuran terhadap kutipan, baik tertulis maupun lisan, pada tahap browsing dilakukan penelusuran terhadap situssitus yang berhubungan dengan multikulturalisme, pada tahap monitoring dilakukan pemantauan terhadap media sosial dan situs yang sering digunakan, pada tahap differentiating dilakukan pengecekan terhadap referensi yang digunakan, pada extracting informasi yang ada akhirnya digunakan untuk penyuntingan, pada tahap verifying dilakukan pengecekan terhadap kelengkapan naskah, pada tahap ending dilakukan kegiatan untuk menampilkan naskah tersebut di situs LenteraTimur.com. Dalam setiap aktivitas penemuan informasi ini, kebenaran atas informasi yang didapatkan selalu diperiksa.

ABSTRACT
The focus of this study is to identify and describe the information seeking behavior of the editor of LenteraTimur.com using the Wilson’s first model of information seeking at the macro level and Ellis’ information seeking model at the micro level. This study used qualitative research methods and descriptive analysis approach. The sample used in this research was the Editor in Chief as the editor of LenteraTimur.com. The collection of research data was obtained from the literature review, interviews, and field notes. The study states that the information needs of LenteraTimur.com’s editor is 5W +1 H with the perspective of the local communities. The sources of information used by the editor of LenteraTimur.com are primary sources that have been obtained through direct interviews, the internet, and printed books. The intervening variables that came up are the ability of knowledge evaluation, ethnic background, role as a journalists, financial, and the competence of contributors. While at the micro level, at the starting stage social media is very useful assist the editor to find the topic of news production. At the chaining stage is following the sources of quotes, whether it is written or oral for the news production. At the browsing stage is browsing the multicultural based sources of information. At the monitoring stage is monitoring the social media and websites that are often used to find the information for news editing. At the differentiating stage is checking the references used in information used in news. At the extracting stage, the information is used for news editing. At the verifying stage is checking the completeness of the news properties. And at the ending stage is displaying the text on the LenteraTimur.com’s site. In every activities of information seeking, the truth of an information is always checked.
