Slowly but sure traditional society has changed into a capitalistic one, and this has split the taste of the traditional society. Social change in the Javanese community has altered the face ofwayang kuwait. On the one hand, the old society still maintains the high taste of wayang kulit (purwa) because wayang kulit is a part of spiritual conduct. On the other hand, the new generation are crazefor pop culture. There has been a degradation in the high art. A number of artists felt anxious because the high art has declined with the rise of pop art. In this situation Wayang Kampung Sebelah has emerged as a counter culture. However, its emergence has truly enriched the world of wayang kulit. Using ethnographic methods, this research has found that a discourse has emerged and the utilization of social media in conveying the ideology of democracy does not reckon the dichotomy between high culture and low culture.

......Art is not a newly discovered topic in international relations. In that regards, the author derives 4 syntheses on the significance of art in international relations. First, art literature in IR tends to be limited to emphasizing that art has the potential to be further discussed. Second, the process of discussing art in IR is still dominated by positivist approach. Third, art has a tendency to be interpreted differently. Written with students in mind, this thoroughly illustrated, new textbook investigates the rich historical, cultural, and social contexts of 3,000 years of Greekart, from the Bronze Age through the Hellenistic period. Complementary chronological and thematic chapters alternate throughout, creating a balanced and accessible framework within which students may engage with art and history, and consider questions such as Who made this? Who paid for it? What purpose did this serve? Why was it important to the ancient Greeks? -- Chronological chapters survey the appearance and development of key artistic genres and explore how artifacts and architecture of the time reflect these styles. Contextual chapters illustrate how a range of factors, such as the urban environment, gender, markets, narrative, and cross-cultural contact, influenced the development of art. The result is an engaging, accessible text offering students a greater understanding of the fabric of ancient Greek culture. --Book Jacket.
