"Berpuluh tahun yang lalu, ketika masyarakat kita belum dibebani oleh persoalan-persoalan sosial ekonomi dan politik yang berat, etika sosial berjalan baik. Keserasian terasa dan terdengar dalam berbagai bentuk interaksi sosial. Beberapa tahun kemudian, kondisi sosial berubah seiring dengan perkembangan situasi ekonomi dan politik. Beban berat dalam persoalan-persoalan ekonomi, perembesan persoalan-persoalan politik, dan penghapusan pelajaran budi pekerti mengurangi perhatian orang terhadap etika. Menurunnya perhatian terhadap etika sosial dapat terlihat dan terdengar dalam beberapa aspek pergaulan sosial, di sekolah-sekolah dan lingkungan universitas. Para siswa dan mahasiswa berpakaian, berperilaku, dan berbicara dengan cara-cara tidak sopan."

"Analisis teks ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana majalah Tempo membingkai Wiji Thukul sebagai representasi korban tragedi Mei 1998. Teks yang dianalisis adalah kumpulan artikel berjudul “Tragedi seorang Penyair”di majalah Tempo edisi Mei 2013 menggunakan metode analisis framing Gamson. Dari keseluruhan elemen framing Gamson, hanya ditemukan dua elemen yang menonjol yaitu methaphors dan exemplar yang menggambarkan penyebab hilangnya Wiji Thukul melalui puisi yang sarat akan kritik social. Secara khusus dapat disimpulkan, elemen metaphors menggambarkan kepiawaian Wiji Thukul mempengaruhi massa dari puisinya, juga elemen exemplar turut mendukung framing Wiji Thukul melalui gambaran tindakan pemerintah memperlakukan orang-orang yang melakukan kritik sosial.

The text analysis aimed to observe how Tempo’s framing about Wiji Thukul as representation of victims tragedy May 1998. I use a few articles on Tempo Magazine on May 1998 as a unit observation, and text as unit analysis. They are only two element such as methaphors and exemplar which are dominant in the text. From those two element, I found that the caused of Wiji Thukul kidnaping is his poetry contains of social criticts against the government."
