...... This study aims to find out models of the technical interoperability which applied and developed on the Digital Library Applications of LARAS version 1.0 by the Center for Scientific Documentation and Information-Indonesian Institute of Sciences (PDII-LIPI). Other goal of this research is to determine why PDII-LIPI tries to develop the LARAS Version 1.0. This study was done by using method of case study with qualitative approach. Data was collected by documents analyzing and in-depth interviews. This study shows that LARAS version 1.0 created by developers at the PDII-LIPI to avoid the obsolescence of information and technology communication (ITC), in this case is digital library application. In the fact, the conflicts between the developers and the librarians in developing LARAS version 1.0 still exist. Models of technical interoperability which applied to LARAS are combination among level of models of LISI (Level of Information System Interoperability). Nevertheless, in the practice, LARAS version 1.0 still not perfect yet, especially from system development of metadata, encoding, communication protocol, databases, and indexing.

ABSTRACT
This research is based on the existence of digital collections in The Jakarta Information Center. As well as printed collections, digital collections also need to be preserved due to damages of the storage media or deterioration of the digital collections over time. Therefore, it is necessary to implement digital preservation strategies. There are six strategies for the preservation of digital collections that can be done, namely: technology preservation, refreshing, migration, emulation, archaeological data, and conversion into analog media. The method used in conducting this research is descriptive method with the method of collecting data by interview technique, observation and literature study. The result of the research states that digital preservation strategies which have been implemented in The Jakarta Information Center to its collections are technology preservation, refreshing, and migration.

ABSTRACT
Libraries today face rising costs, contract issues, changing formats, and technical complexities when it comes to electronic resources. This instructional guidebook will prepare you for managing every aspect of your virtual "stacks." From evaluating resources, to negotiating and licensing, to staff training and mastering authentication software, you'll learn everything you'll need to know to fund, procure, and organize your digital collection.

The work offers step-by-step guidance for overseeing collection development of electronic resources with a special focus on activities revolving around the life cycle of the materials, such as identifying and evaluating appropriate resources; managing the knowledge base, link resolver, discovery layer, and administrative accounts for each resource; and gathering and analyzing usage statistics and other assessment data. Content includes a chapter on communicating with authors, funding sources, publishers, and libraries regarding digital rights and access to texts. The book concludes with a look at the future directions of electronic resource management.

Abstrak :
"It has become increasingly accepted that important digital data must be retained and shared in order to preserve and promote knowledge, advance research in and across all disciplines of scholarly endeavor, and maximize the return on investment of public funds. To meet this challenge, colleges and universities are adding data services to existing infrastructures by drawing on the expertise of information professionals who are already involved in the acquisition, management and preservation of data in their daily jobs. Data services include planning and implementing good data management practices, thereby increasing researchers' ability to compete for grant funding and ensuring that data collections with continuing value are preserved for reuse. This volume provides a framework to guide information professionals in academic libraries, presses, and data centers through the process of managing research data from the planning stages through the life of a grant project and beyond. It illustrates principles of good practice with use-case examples and illuminates promising data service models through case studies of innovative, successful projects and collaborations"-
