"Budaya material mencakup seluruh aspek dunia fisik yang diciptakan atau dimodifikasi oleh manusia, seperti peralatan, bangunan, dekorasi, dan artefak lainnya. Analisis terhadap budaya material dapat mengungkap berbagai aspek kehidupan manusia masa lalu, mulai dari teknologi, ekonomi, sosial, politik, hingga ideologi. Dalam konteks industri otomotif, budaya material mobil juga memainkan peran penting. Mobil dapat mencerminkan karakteristik budaya suatu masyarakat, mengkomunikasikan identitas, status sosial, dan gaya hidup penggunanya, serta terlibat dalam proses transmisi dan transformasi budaya. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui transformasi desain eksterior dan faktor yang mempengaruhi transformasi desain eksterior pada dua mobil Mercedes-Benz, yaitu W105 dan W110. Penelitian ini memakai metode penelitian arkeologi James Deetz yang dengan melakukan pengumpulan data (observasi), pengolahan data (deskripsi), dan penafsiran data (eksplanasi). Kedua model ini menggambarkan perubahan era desain yang signifikan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Mercedes-Benz W105 menggambarkan tren desain pada tahun 1950-an yang menampilkan model ‘Ponton’. Selanjutnya, Mercedes-Benz W110 menggambarkan tren desain pada tahun 1960-an yang menampilkan model ‘Fintail’, selain itu banyak juga perubahan desain eksterior lainnya.

Material culture encompasses all aspects of the physical world created or modified by humans, such as tools, buildings, decorations, and other artifacts. Analysis of material culture can reveal various aspects of past human life, ranging from technology, economy, social, politics, to ideology. In the context of the automotive industry, the material culture of cars also plays an important role. Cars can reflect the cultural characteristics of a society, communicate the identity, social status, and lifestyle of their users, and be involved in the process of cultural transmission and transformation. This research was conducted to determine the transformation of exterior design and the factors that influence the transformation of exterior design on two Mercedes-Benz cars, namely the W105 and the W110. This research uses the archaeological research method of James Deetz, which involves data collection (observation), data processing (description), and data interpretation (explanation). These two models depict a significant change in the design era. The results of this study show that the Mercedes-Benz W105 represents the design trends of the 1950s, which featured the 'Ponton' model. Furthermore, the Mercedes-Benz W110 represents the design trends of the 1960s, which featured the 'Fintail' model, as well as many other exterior design changes."

"ABSTRAKJurnal ini membahas salah satu bangunan peninggalan Belanda yang sampai saat ini masih aktif digunakan sebagaipusat penelitian dan pengembangan industri agro oleh pemerintah Indonesia melalui Kementrian Perindustrian. Jurnalini bertujuan untuk memaparkan unsur adaptasi arsitektur Indis yang terdapat pada eksterior Balai Besar Industri Agro.Metode yang digunakan untuk menganalisis penelitian ini yakni deskriptif kualitatif berdasarkan teori-teoripendukung seperti gaya arsitektur Indis, gaya arsitektur Jawa dan gaya arsitektur Eropa. Setelah melalui beberapaproses analisis, eksterior pada bangunan Balai Besar Industri Agro memiliki karakteristik yang diadaptasi dari gayaIndis.

ABSTRACTThis journal discusses one of the Dutch heritage buildings that are still actively used as a center for research anddevelopment of the agro industry by the Indonesian government through the Ministry of Industry. This journal aimsto describe the elements of adaptation of the Indis architecture found on the exterior of the Balai Besar Industri Agro.The method used to analyze this research by using qualitative descriptive based on supporting theories such as Indisarchitectural style, Javanese architectural style and European architectural style. After going through severalanalysis processes, the exterior of the Balai Besar Industri Agro has a characteristic adapted from the Indis style."

"Makalah ini berisi tinjauan arsitektur budaya pada bangunan indis melalui analisis bangunan gedung Antara, Jakarta. Penelitian ini difokuskan pada gaya art deco yang terdapat pada interior dan eksterior bangunan. Nilai sejarah yang terdapat pada gedung Antara baik bentuk fisik dan fungsinya sebagai kantor berita pada masa Hindia Belanda menjadikan bangunan ini sebagai bangunan cagar budaya yang perlu dilestarikan. Hal inilah yang membuat saya melakukan penelitian budaya pada gedung Antara, Jakarta. Pendekatan semiotik digunakan untuk memahami makna arsitektur yang terdapat pada bentuk dan ornamen bangunan. Pendekatan semiotik melandasi metode penelitian, analisis, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif disebabkan teknik pengumpulan dan pengolahan data yang terdapat di dalam metode kualitatif relevan terhadap objek penelitian. Makalah ini memaparkan kondisi gedung Antara sebagai bangunan cagar budaya dari masa Hindia Belanda melalui gaya art deco yang terdapat pada eksterior bangunan.

This paper provides an overview of architecture culture in Indies building through an analysis of Antara building, Jakarta. This research focused on the art deco style which is contained in the exterior of the building. The historical value which is contained in Antara building that founded in physical form and function are making this building as a cultural heritage that should be preserved. This is the reason to me to do the culture research in the Antara building, Jakarta. Semiotic approach is used to understand the meaning of architecture which is founded in the form and ornamentation of the building. Semiotic approach is underlying the research methods, analysis, and conclusion. This research used qualitative methods due to the techniques of collecting and processing the data which contained in qualitative method is relevant for the research object. This paper describes the condition of Antara building as culture heritage from the Dutch East Indies Indies period through art deco style which is contained in the exterior building."
