Abstrak :
Skripsi ini membahas mengenai pemanfaatan pangkalan data dalam jaringan Perpustakaan UI, khususnya pangkalan data dalam jaringan jurnal elektronik. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode studi kasus yang menggunakan kuesioner sebagai instrument penelitiannya. Indikator dalam penelitian ini adalah kesadaran pengguna, pemanfaatan koleksi, kemampuan penggunaan komputer, kualitas informasi, kemudahan akses, kemudahan penggunaan, dan kesadaran penggunaan. Analisis data yang digunakan dibantu oleh software SPSS for Windows release 16 untuk menghitung persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat pemanfaatan oleh 110 responden sudah cukup baik, namun masih disayangkan adanya responden yang tidak mengetahui keberadaan koleksi tersebut. Hasil penelitian juga menyebutkan kurangnya sosialisasi baik keberadaan koleksi tersebut maupun cara penggunaannya. ......This thesis describes about the usage of online database Universitas Indonesia Library by the undergraduate program student, especially about online database electronic journal. The research uses quantitative approach with case study method which questionnaire as the research instrument. The questionnaire indicators are user awareness, collection usage, computer self-efficacy, quality information, ease of access, ease of usage, usage awareness. Data analysis that is used in this research is helped by SPSS for Windows release 16 software to tabulate the percentage. The result of this research showed that 110 respondents rate the usage of online database is good enough. But, unfortunately there are respondents that did not know the existence of online database. This research also show the lack of socialization of the online database’s existence and the searching strategy.

Skripsi ini membahas tentang pemberitaan perpustakaan dalam media massa online Detik dan Kompas dari tanggal 1 Januari 2014 sampai dengan 30 April 2014. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah analisis isi dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Kategori dalam penelitian ini dikelompokkan variabel asal berita, lokasi, dan aspek. Secara keseluruhan, hampir setengah pemberitaan perpustakaan membahas koleksi dan sarana prasarana. Hampir setengah pemberitaan perpustakaan dalam negeri membahas aspek koleksi. Hampir setengah pemberitaan perpustakaan luar negeri membahas aspek sarana dan prasarana serta koleksi. Sebagian besar pemberitaan membahas perpustakaan luar negeri, sedangkan perpustakaan dalam negeri hanya sebagian kecil.

ABSTRACT
This thesis discusses about the library news on online mass media, Detik and Kompas from the First of January until the Thirtieth of April, 2014. Researcher uses content analysis with quantitative approach as a research method. Categories in this research are grouped in the source of news, location and aspect variables. In conclusion, nearly half of the library news discuss about collection and infrastructure aspects. Nearly half of local library news discuss about collection aspects. Nearly half of foreign library news discuss about library infrastructure and collection aspects. Most of the library news discuss about foreign libraries, on the other hand local libraries only reported on small portion.

Penelitian ini dilatar-belakangi adanya koleksi digital di The Jakarta Information Center. Seperti halnya pada koleksi cetak, koleksi digital ini juga perlu dilestarikan karena terjadinya kerusakan media penyimpanan atau penurunan kualitas pada koleksi digital seiring berjalannya waktu. Untuk itu diperlukan pelaksanaan strategi pelestarian digital. Terdapat enam strategi pelestarian untuk koleksi digital yang dapat dilakukan, yaitu: pelestarian teknologi, refreshing, dan migrasi, emulasi, arkeologi data, dan pengalihbentukkan ke dalam media analog. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif dengan metode pengumpulan data dengan teknik wawancara, observasi dan studi kepustakaan. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa strategi pelestarian koleksi digital yang telah diterapkan di The Jakarta Information Center adalah pelestarian teknologi, refreshing, dan migrasi.

ABSTRACT
This research is based on the existence of digital collections in The Jakarta Information Center. As well as printed collections, digital collections also need to be preserved due to damages of the storage media or deterioration of the digital collections over time. Therefore, it is necessary to implement digital preservation strategies. There are six strategies for the preservation of digital collections that can be done, namely: technology preservation, refreshing, migration, emulation, archaeological data, and conversion into analog media. The method used in conducting this research is descriptive method with the method of collecting data by interview technique, observation and literature study. The result of the research states that digital preservation strategies which have been implemented in The Jakarta Information Center to its collections are technology preservation, refreshing, and migration.

"It has become increasingly accepted that important digital data must be retained and shared in order to preserve and promote knowledge, advance research in and across all disciplines of scholarly endeavor, and maximize the return on investment of public funds. To meet this challenge, colleges and universities are adding data services to existing infrastructures by drawing on the expertise of information professionals who are already involved in the acquisition, management and preservation of data in their daily jobs. Data services include planning and implementing good data management practices, thereby increasing researchers' ability to compete for grant funding and ensuring that data collections with continuing value are preserved for reuse. This volume provides a framework to guide information professionals in academic libraries, presses, and data centers through the process of managing research data from the planning stages through the life of a grant project and beyond. It illustrates principles of good practice with use-case examples and illuminates promising data service models through case studies of innovative, successful projects and collaborations"-
