"ABSTRAKPenelitian ini menggunakan analisis isi kuantitatif. Masalah penelitian adalahadanya perbedaan karakteristik gaya retorika dalam transkripsi pidato PresidenSBY. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk membandingkan retorika pada masing-masingagenda pidato Presiden SBY yang dilihat berdasarkan pesan politik dalamtranskripsi pidato. Data yang digunakan adalah transkripsi pidato Presiden SBYperiode 2010 hingga periode 2013. Analisis isi kuantitatif digunakan untukmengetahui isi yang tersurat pada transkripsi pidato sehingga bisa disimpulkansecara rinci. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan gaya retorika padaagenda pidato Presiden SBY yang dilihat melalui pesan politik pada transkripsipidato.

ABSTRACTThis study used quantitative content analysis. The research problem is thedifference in the characteristic style of rhetoric in the transcription of thePresident's speech. "Riset ini didasari oleh pidato Sa’ad al-Hariri pada 04 November 2017 yang mengundurkan diri sebagai Perdana Menteri Lebanon. Jika diamati lebih lanjut, ujaran-ujaran yang disampaikan dalam pidatonya tersebut dapat diteliti dari segi semantik dan pragmatik karena mengandung redaksi yang cukup menarik. Riset ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana bentuk semantik dan tindak tutur pragmatik yang terdapat dalam pidato pengunduran diri Sa’ad al-Hariri sebagai Perdana Menteri Lebanon. Penulisan riset ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Adapun teori yang digunakan sebagai rujukan utama dalam riset ini yaitu Analisis Wacana Kritis karya Norman Fairclough, 1995 yang meliputi dimensi mikrostruktur, mesostruktur, dan makrostruktur, serta teori Tindak Tutur Searle, 1979 berupa asertif, direktif, komisif, ekspresif, dan deklaratif. Riset ini menggunakan data yang bersumber dari beberapa dokumen dari media massa seperti surat kabar online Al-Jazeera, artikel, dan bacaan literatur lainnya. Hasilnya ditemukan beberapa proposisi yang menunjukkan alasan atas pengunduran dirinya, namun pada saat yang bersamaan pula, ia memohon kepada rakyat Lebanon untuk mendukungnya secara penuh dan tindakan tersebut dinilai sangat deklaratif. Riset ini diharapkan mampu menjadi acuan bagi peneliti selanjutnya yang mempunyai ketertarikan di bidang linguistik khususnya semantik pragmatik.......The research was motivated by Sa'ad al-Hariri's resignation speech as Lebanese Prime Minister on Saturday, November 4, 2017. In his speech, there are utterly meaningful utterances and redactions to be studied in terms of semantics and pragmatics. This research aims to analyse how the semantic form and pragmatic speech of acts contained in Sa'ad al-Hariri's speech. The method used in writing this chapter is qualitative method with descriptive approach. The database is library research. This research uses the approach of Critical Discourse Analysis model of Norman Fairclough, 1995 and Theory of Speech Acts of Searle, 1979. Fairclough divides discourse analysis into three dimensions, namely text (microstructure), discourse practice (mesostructure), and social practice (macrostructure). Searle also divides the act of speech of illocution into five forms of speech which each has a communicative function, among them are assertive, directive, expressive, commissive, and declarative. The data contained in this research is sourced from mass media of Al-Jazeera online newspaper, literature readings, articles, and some documents from mass media. From the results of data analysis, there are several propositions which show that in Sa'ad Al-Hariri's speech, although he resigned, the editorial is quite declarative at the same time. Additionally, in his speech he revealed the reasons for his resignation and also appealed to the Lebanese people to support him. This research is expected to be a reference for further researchers whose an interest in the field of discourse analysis and speech acts or from other relevant disciplines in semantics and pragmatics."

"Penelitian yang berjudul Kesempatan Politik, Struktur Mobilisasi, dan Proses Pembingkaian dalam Gerakan Sosial: (Studi Kasus Gerakan Pro-Penetapan Keistimewaan Yogyakarta tahun 2010-2012), dilatarbelakangi oleh munculnya aktivitas gerakan yang terus menerus dilakukan oleh elemen-elemen masyarakat Yogyakarta. Gerakan masyarakat yang dikenal dengan Gerakan Pro-Penetapan Keistimewaan Yogyakarta tersebut, lahir sebagai bentuk aksi protes atas adanya upaya reduksi keistimewaan oleh pemerintah pusat yang terjadi sejak masa Orde Baru. Kemudian berkembang pasca reformasi, dan menuntut agar Sultan Hamengku Buwono dan Paku Alam yang bertakhta ditetapkan sebagai Gubernur dan Wakil Gubernur Provinsi Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta tanpa melalui mekanisme pemilihan umum. Gerakan tersebut terpusat pada tuntutan akan lahirnya aturan yuridis yang mengatur penetapan Sultan Hamengku Buwono dan Paku Alam yang bertakhta sebagai Gubernur dan Wakil Gubernur Provinsi Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan teori gerakan sosial baru dengan unit analisis teori kesempatan politik, struktur mobilisasi, dan proses pembingkaian di dalam menjelaskan munculnya gerakan sosial. Penelitian ini berusaha menjelaskan bagaimana aktor-aktor gerakan memanfaatkan momentum politik, mengembangkan strategi dan berinteraksi dengan lingkungannya dalam membentuk pemahaman bersama sehingga mampu memobilisasi masyarakat dan melakukan gerakan sosial. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Hasil temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gerakan sosial pada kasus gerakan Pro-Penetapan Keistimewaan Yogyakarta sangat dipengaruhi oleh tiga faktor. Pertama, kesempatan politik yang mampu menciptakan peluang bagi aktor-aktor gerakan untuk memanfaatkan momentum aksi. Kedua, struktur mobilisasi yang merepresentasikan struktur sosial masyarakat. Serta proses pembingkaian yang strategis. Ketiga faktor tersebut sangat mendukung terciptanya gerakan sosial. Implikasi teori pada penelitian ini menggambarkan secara parsial adanya anomali pada teori-teori gerakan sosial baru. ......This research discusses the social movement to demand the appointment of the Sultan of Yogyakarta as the governor through the enactment of the law on Special Autonomy of Yogyakarta Province, without a free and fair election like in any other regions in Indonesia. The movement has its roots in history since the New Order, where there were protests and demonstrations among the public over the uniformization of local government system, including in the mode of election. After reformasi 1998, there were demands for Sultan Hamengku Buwono and Paku Alam to be enthroned as Governor and Vice Governor of Yogyakarta Province without election. The movement focused on the demands for the introduction of juridical rules governing the appointment of Sultan Hamengku Buwono and Paku Alam as Governor and Vice Governor of Yogyakarta. This research uses the new social movement theory, explaining the three factors of the movement, i.e. political opportunity, mobilization structure, and framing process. It explains how political opportunities and mobilization structures are formed, and how social movement actors develop strategies and interact with their environment in building a common understanding in order to prepare society and engage in social movements. The research method used is a qualitative method with case study approach. The findings of the research indicate that the social movement in the case of Pro-Penetapan Keistimewaan Yogyakarta movement is highly influenced by three factors. First, a political opportunity that creates opportunities for movement actors to take advantage of the momentum of the action. Second, the mobilization structure that represents the social structure of society. Third, the strategic framing process. These three factors strongly support the creation of social movements. The theoretical implications of this study illustrate partially anomalies in new social movement theories."

In the first full-length account of Burke’s rhetoric, Paddy Bullard argues that Burke’s ideas about civil society – and, particularly, about the process of political deliberation – are, for better or worse, shaped by the expressiveness of his language. Above all, Burke’s eloquence is designed to express ethos or character. This rhetorical imperative is itself informed by Burke’s argument that the competency of every political system can be judged by the ethical knowledge that the governors have both of the people that they govern, and of them- selves. Bullard finds the intellectual roots of Burke’s ‘rhetoric of character’ in early modern moral and aesthetic philosophy. He traces its development through Burke’s parliamentary career to its culmin- ation in his masterpiece, Reflections on the Revolution in France."
