......A player's citizenship is one of the aspects considered by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) when exercising its jurisdiction in adjudicating and deciding a football contract dispute. As the primary connecting factor that gives rise to a Private International Law (PIL) case, the difference in citizenship between the player and the club is a prerequisite for a football contractual dispute to be viewed to have an international dimension, as stipulated in the FIFA Regulations on Status and Transfers of Players (FIFA RSTP). Until now, there has not been much comprehensive literature on the citizenship aspects of football players according to CAS jurisprudence, especially from the perspective of Indonesian writers. Therefore, this research aims to examine the effect of citizenship as a primary connecting factor according to CAS jurisdiction, as well as its relevance to football contract disputes decided by CAS. This research uses doctrinal research method and is supported by interviews with several legal practitioners involved with the analyzed cases. The results found that the aspect of a player's citizenship is very influential on the jurisdiction of CAS as it requires CAS to determine a player's sporting nationality, especially through proving a football player's genuine link with a country. The two decisions analyzed in this research demonstrate the consistency of the CAS in requiring proof of a genuine link between a football player and a country as the most relevant aspect to determine whether the player is eligible for that country's sporting nationality. Overall, this research reveals that the study of citizenship aspects is also intertwined with many other aspects, especially in the fields of PIL and national citizenship law. This research suggests the need for anticipation from football policy makers in Indonesia in dealing with problems that may arise from the increasingly rapid flow of human movement due to globalization, through updating the regulations regarding the citizenship of athletes by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and improving the quality of the National Dispute Resolution Chamber (NDRC) by PSSI."

"[The constantly growing number of arising referee corruption cases as well as their damage to the integrity of the sports society raises the question of why sports associations started availing themselves of referees as an instrument of contest design in the first place? Cedric Duvinage shows that economic theory allows to develop a deeper understanding of the role of a referee in a contest as well as of the danger of sports corruption by considering a referee’s influence on the competitors’ strategies in a contest. These insights provide the basis for efficient anti-corruption policies as well as their urgent implementation resulting from the current legal ambiguity regarding the prosecution of sports corruption in Germany., The constantly growing number of arising referee corruption cases as well as their damage to the integrity of the sports society raises the question of why sports associations started availing themselves of referees as an instrument of contest design in the first place?
