Quality of life is one important aspect in management of children with chronic condition, for example rheumatology disease. Quality of life of these children can be measured by Pediatric Quality Of Life Inventory Rheumatology Module (PedsQL-RM)questionnaire which was proven valid and reliable. A valid version of the questionnaire in Bahasa Indonesia has not yet available. We perform translation and transcultural adaptation to produce the Indonesian version. The questionnaire was answered by 53 children aged 2-18 years old with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) or juvenile idiopatic arthritis (JIA) and their respective parents. Due to lack of subject, analysis was only performed in age 8-18 years old group. The validity in children domain varied within range of good to strong (0,437-0,910), while the parents domain varied within range of weak to strong (0,153-0,808). The questionnaire is reliable with cronbach alpha of 0,755-0,785. In conclusion, the PedsQL-RM in Bahasa Indonesia is valid and reliable to assess the quality of life in children with rheumatology disease aged 8-18 years old. Further study needed to assess the validity and reliability for children aged 2-7 years old."

"Latar belakang.

Background. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is the most reumatology diseases in children. These are chronic disease that needed prolonged treatment. Quality of life is the most important factor in treatment of rheumatology disease. Until now, there was no data of quality of life in rheumatology disease in adolescent in Indonesia.
Objectives: To assess the quality of life of adolescent with rheumatology disease and association with disease activity and duration.
Methods. A cross-sectional design was conducted on patients and parents/caregivers diagnosed SLE or JIA during August-November 2021 in Allergy and Immunology Policlinic Child Health Departement Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital according to inclusion criteria. The quality of life were assess by PedsQL-RM questionnaire. Data were obtained from an online questionnaire.
Result. The subjects in this study were 82 adolescents with SLE is the most common in rheumatology disease (91.4%) and 8.6% were JIA. A total of 65.9% of rheumatology disease have a good quality of life that consist of 69.3% of SLE patients have a good quality of life and 47% have low-moderate disease activity. Meanwhile, only 2/7 of JIA patients have good quality of life and most of them have high disease activity (4/7 patients). There was no significant relationship between disease activity on quality of life from the overall assessment of children (p= 0.883). Worriness and communication aspects are quite low in adolescents with rheumatology disease. Illness duration did not affect the quality of life in children assessment (p= 0.392).
