"Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mereplikasi efek audiens, menguji teori kekhawatiran evaluasi, dan melihat pengaruh kehadiran orang lain terhadap kinerja seseorang. Partisipan penelitian ini terdiri dari 40 mahasiswa University of Queensland, yang berpartisipasi dengan sukarela. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah independent-groups eksperimen. Partisipan diminta untuk mengingat daftar negara Eropa. Partisipan secara random dimasukkan ke dalam dua kondisi eksperimen: dengan kehadiran orang lain dan tanpa kehadiran orang lain. Penelitian ini menemukan ada perbedaan signifikan dalam pengingatan yang benar pada dua kondisi penelitian, namun, tidak ditemukan perbedaan signifikan berkaitan dengan perasaan sedang dievaluasi. Penemuan ini menunjukkan bahwa efek audiens terjadi, bahwa kehadiran orang lain mempengaruhi kinerja seseorang, bagaimanapun, tidak berarti bahwa para partisipan merasa dievaluasi.

This study aimed to replicate the audience effect, to test the theory of evaluation apprehension, and to examine the influence of the presence of others on one’s performance. Participants in this study consisted of 40 the University of Queensland undergraduate students, who participated voluntary. The research design used was experimental independent-groups, with audience presence being manipulated. Participants were randomly assigned to two experimental conditions: in the presence others and without the presence others. Participants were asked to recall a list of European countries. The study found that there was a significant difference in correct recalls in the two conditions, however, no significance difference was found with regard to feeling being evaluated. The result suggests that an audience effect occurs, that the presence of others influence one’s performance, however, does not imply that the participants feel evaluated."

"[ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh dari kehadiran pemirsa terhadap kemampuan mengingat
kembali memori mengenai kata-kata. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain 2(Kondisi tidak ada pemirsa/Ada
pemirsa) x 2(Kata-kata simpel/kompleks). Partisipan dalam penelitian adalah mahasiswa-mahasiswa University
of Queensland yang terdiri dari 12 partisipan perempuan dan 3 partisipan laki-laki. Masing-masing partisipan
diminta mengingat sebanyak mungkin kata-kata yang ditunjukkan pada empat macam kondisi yaitu mengingat
kata-kata simpel pada kondisi tidak ada pemirsa, mengingat kata-kata simpel pada kondisi ada pemirsa,
mengingat kata-kata kompleks pada kondisi tidak ada pemirsa, dan mengingat kata-kata kompleks pada kondisi
ada pemirsa. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa partisipan mengingat lebih banyak kata-kata simpel
dibanding kata-kata kompleks, namun tidak ada perbedaan signifikan pada efek kehadiran pemirsa terhadap
kemampuan mengingat kembali memori tentang kata-kata tersebut. Lebih lanjut, secara signifikan ditemukan
bahwa partisipan mengingat lebih banyak kata simpel pada kondisi tidak ada pemirsa dibanding mengingat kata
kompleks pada kondisi ada pemirsa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kehadiran pemirsa
