"Abstrak
The paper examines the politics of motherhood through the family planning programs in two
locales in Bangladesh. It argues that the entire discourse centers round patriarchal ideas and
values in which women have little voice. The paper looks into the ideas of nationhood, the
development, security, environment, poverty discourses, which weave patriarchy into sinews
and fabric of the entire political and social milieu. Womens movements and organizations
however are making interventions by reshaping discourses and challenging the biological
model of motherhood through positing the social political model of motherhood. "

Summary
Although there is plentiful research on the impact of marriage, employment and the military on desistance from criminal behaviour in the lives of men, far less is known about the factors most important to women's desistance. Imprisoned women are far more likely than their male counterparts to be the primary caretakers of children before their incarceration, and are far more likely to intend to reunify with their children upon their release from incarceration. This book focuses on the role of mothering in women's desistance from criminal behaviour. Drawing on original research, this book explores the nature of mothering during incarceration, how mothers maintain a relationship with their children from behind bars and the ways in which mothering makes desistance more or less likely after incarceration. It outlines the ways in which race, gender, class, nationality, sexuality, gender identity, and other characteristics affect mothering and desistance, and explores the tensions between individual and system-level factors in the consideration of desistance. This book suggests that any discussion of desistance, particularly for women, must move beyond the traditional focus on individual characteristics and decision-making. Such a focus overlooks the role played by context and systems which undermine both women's attempts to be mothers and their attempts to desist. By contrast, in the tradition of Beth Richie's Compelled to Crime, this book explores both the trees and the forests, and the quantum in-between, in a way that aims for lasting societal and individual changes."

"[ABSTRAK
Ideologi good motherhood menyebabkan perempuan teropresi dari peran reproduksinya.

A hermeneutic phenomenological study was carried out to explore the difficulties and challenges of being a first-time mother in a rural area in Indonesia. The purposes of the present study were to provide health care providers with a greater understanding of the difficulties and the challenges of early motherhood. The thirteen Indonesian women who participated in this study described their experiences of first-time motherhood during early motherhood. Data were collected through semi structured conversational interviews. Three majors difficulties and challenges were identified: (1) being a new mother is not easy (2) a new mother is not as free as she was before and (3) trying to be a good mother. These challenges have offered insight, information and understanding into the experiences of Indonesian women with early motherhood. Also, this study will give a richer and deeper understanding of the needs of women during this period and about their feelings on the mothering role, which is useful for health care providers and others, who are concerned about this issue."

Children stories which talk about motherhood can be found in a lot of literatures around the world. However, the portrayal of motherhood is often reduced to either a bad or good mother. Only a few such stories are not caught in the binary opposition. One of them is Coraline, a novel published in 2002 by Neil Gaiman which was later adapted into a movie in 2009 with the same title. In Coraline, the concept of motherhood is portrayed as one complex thing which is not only limited to bad or good mother. It shows the complexity which is hold by both career women and housewives with their child-caring duty. This study aims to see the family dynamic and construction of motherhood in both texts. Using Creeds concept of Monstrous Feminine, this research suggests that there is ambivalence in the construction of the powerful mother characters."
