"ABSTRAKPrancis adalah salah satu negara dengan populasi orang kulit hitam yang cukup besar di Eropa. Orang kulit hitam di Prancis kerap kali dilekatkan dengan prasangka dan stereotipe negatif oleh masyarakat. Melalui karya seni khususnya musik rap, stereoritpe dan prasangka negatif dapat dikukuhkan atau sebaliknya, karena di dalamnya mengandung subjektivitas dan sudut pandang pengarang mengenai suatu hal. Tak terkecuali dengan lagu, yaitu Sur Ma Route dan Force d rsquo; tre karya seorang rapper terkenal Prancis Black M. Menggunakan teori representasi dan identitas Stuart Hall, penulis berusaha menelusuri bagaimana identitas orang kulit hitam direpresentasikan dalam larik lagu rap karya Black M. Artikel ini memperlihatkan identitas orang kulit hitam yang berlawanan dengan stereotipe masyarakat. Orang kulit hitam dalam dua lagu tersebut direpresentasikan sebagai sosok yang tangguh dan membanggakan. Musik rap Black M hadir untuk mengekspresikan opini dan kritiknya dengan memaparkan kisah hidupnya sebagai role model orang kulit hitam yang berhasil melawan stereotipe negatif masyarakat.ABSTRACT

France is one of the countries with large black people population in Europe. French black people are often attached to negative prejudgement and stereotypes by society. Through art, especially rap music, negative stereotypes and prejudices could be reinforced or vice versa, because they contain the creator rsquo s subjectivity and point of view about something. No exception to these rap songs titled Sur Ma Route and Force d rsquo tre by a famous French rapper Black M. Using the theory of representation and identity by Stuart Hall, the author tries to explore how the identity of black people are represented in the lyrics of rap songs by Black M. This article shows the identity of black people as opposed to community stereotypes. The black people in these two songs are represented as a formidable and proud figure. Black M 39 s rap music came to express his opinions and criticisms by describing his life story as a role model of black people who succeeded against the negative stereotypes of society."

"Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap kontroversi dari kebijakan-kebijakan politik Presiden Harry S. Truman yang berpihak pada penegakan hak-hak sipil kaum Afro Amerika dengan dua keputusan besar yang dikeluarkan Truman, pertama, Executive Order 9981: Establishing the President 's Committee on Equality of Treatment and Oppurtunity in the Armed Services dan ke dua, pembentukan President 's Commission on Civil Rights. Beberapa ahli mengasusmsikan bahwa kebijakan politik anti rasisme tersebut membahayakan masa depan karir politik Truman.Dalam tesis ini, saya ingin menujukkan benarkah keberpihakan Truman pada penegakan hak-hak sipil kaum Afro Amerika membahayakan karir politiknya. Hipotesa yang saya ajukan adalah bahwa posisi dan masa depan karir politik Truman pada hakekatnya tidak terancam, tapi malah sebaliknya kebijakankebijakan politik yang mencerminkan keberpihakan Truman pada penegakan hak-hak sipil kaum Afro Amerika tersebut menguntungkan bagi karir politiknya, baik jangka pendek maupun jangka panjang.Dengan menggunakan pendekatan sosiologis dan politis, saya menemukan bahwa kebijakan politik anti rasisme Truman bukanlah sesuatu yang membahayakan karir politiknya, justru itu menjadi kekuatan dan membangun citra positifnya untuk menghilangkan bayang-bayang kebesaran Presiden Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Kebijakan tersebut juga sekaligus mencerminkan visi, misi, dan memberikan implikasi positif pads karir politiknya, balk jangka pendek maupun jangka panjang. Truman memenangkan pemilu 1948 dan is tercatat sebagai tokoh yang sangat berjasa dalam perjuangan penegakan hak-hak sipil kaum Afro Amerika.Pada bagian akhir dari penelitian ini saya membuktikan kebesaran hipotesa yang saya ajukan. Tesis akhir saya adalah eksistensi kaum kulit hitam sangat bermanfaat dan dapat mendukung karir politik seorang presiden.

This research is aimed to discuss the controversy resulted from President Harry S. Truman's political policies which supported Afro American civil right. He issued two important policies, firstly, Executive Order 9981: Establishing the President's Committee on Equality of Treatment and Opportunity in the Armed Services and secondly, the founding President 's Commission on Civil Rights. Some expert assumed that anti-racism political policies harmed Truman 's future political career.

In this thesis, I intended to figure out whether Truman 's support to Afro American civil rights harmed his political career, or vice versa. My hypothesis was that Truman's future political career basically was not in danger; even his political policies gave advantages to his future political career, both in short and long term.

By applying sociological and political approaches, I found out that Truman's anti-racism political policies were not harmful to his political career. However, those became his strength and gave him positive image to release from the shadow of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Those also reflected his vision, mission and gave positive implication to his political career, both in short and long term. Truman won the election 1948 and he was honored as one of outstanding people in preserving Afro American civil rights.

By the end of this research, 1 proved that my hypothesis was right_ My final thesis is that the existence of black people is very beneficial and it can support political career of a president."

"ABSTRAKKeragaman etnis dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat seringkali menjadi penyebab isu sosial, salah satunya adalah stereotip. Stereotip atau prasangka lahir dari penilaian karena keterbatasan pengetahuan atas kelompok ras lain. Untuk mengurangi masalah tersebut, masing-masing pihak dapat membuka diri dengan mengesampingkan prasangka. Permasalahan seperti ini diangkat oleh salah satu penulis Frankofon, Gabrielle Roy. Karya-karya beliau selalu diangkat dari latar belakang kehidupan pribadinya, salah satunya adalah Les Deux N gres. Artikel ini tidak hanya membahas mengenai integrasi yang terjadi antara masyarakat kulit putih dan kulit hitam, tetapi juga mematahkan kesimpulan dari artikel ldquo;Tema Rasisme dalam Cerpen Les Deux N gres Karya Gabrielle Roy rdquo; karya Riezca Biastami Radaini.

ABSTRACTEthnic diversity in a multicultural society often causes social issues, such as stereotypes. Stereotypes or prejudice comes from a limited knowledge of other racial groups. In order to minimize this problem, each group should set aside their prejudice of each other and try to be more open. This type of problem can be found in the writings of one of the Francophone authors, Gabrielle Roy. Her works are usually taken from her personal life, as seen in one of her works Les Deux N gres. The purpose of this article is to discuss the problem of racial integration between white people and black people, and to break the conclusion made by Riezca Radaini Biastami rsquo s in her article ldquo Racism Theme in Short Story ldquo Les Deux N gres rdquo by Gabrielle Roy rdquo ."

"Pada abad ke-21 ini, representasi orang kulit hitam di banyak film Amerika problematis karena film-film tersebut tidak menghilangkan representasi stereotip orang kulit hitam yang mana sering digambarkan tidak sopan dan kurang cerdas dibandingkan dengan ras lain. Banyak film sudah mencoba mengubah stereotip tersebut ke perspektif lain, namun film-film tersebut masih belum dapat sepenuhnya menghapuskan stereotip yang ada. Dengan melihat aspek sinematik, dialog, simbol, suara, dan musik yang digunakan, artikel ini menganalisis stereotip karakter orang kulit hitam dalam film Get Out (2017) oleh Jordan Peele menggunakan analisis wacana. Artikel ini menemukan bahwa keseluruhan representasi dalam film tersebut masih memisahkan kulit hitam dari kulit putih dengan lebih mengutamakan aspek tubuh daripada pikiran dalam maskulinitas kulit hitam, sikap yang tidak sopan, dan perbedaan jenis pekerjaan. Sebagai hasilnya, karakter kulit hitam terlihat inferior dibandingkan karakter kulit putih meskipun film ini berusaha untuk memberdayakan orang kulit hitam. Penggunaan musik juga menekankan adanya perbedaan kekuasaan antara kedua ras. Keseluruhan hasil analisis dari artikel menemukan bahwa penggambaran stereotip orang kulit hitam masih terlihat dalam film yang memberdayakan orang kulit hitam. In the 21st century, the representation of Black people in many U.S. movies is still problematic, for the movies do not omit the stereotypical representations of Black people, which are often depicted being disrespectful and unintelligent compared to other races. Many movies have been trying to change them into another perspective, yet they are still unable to completely get rid of those stereotypes. By looking through the cinematic aspects, the dialogues, and the symbols along with the sounds and music used, this paper examines the stereotypes of Black characters in the movie Get Out (2017) by Jordan Peele using discourse analysis. The paper observes that the representation of the movie still distinguishes Black from White in the aspects of body over mind in Black masculinity, incivility, and distinctive racial labor. As a result, Black characters are seen inferior compared to White characters despite the movie’s effort to empower them. The use of music also emphasizes the power relation difference between the two races. The overall finding of the paper reveals that the existence of Black stereotypical depiction is still found in a movie empowering Black people, and it shows that race representation should be monitored thoroughly."

"Tesis ini membahas disfungsi keluarga yang ditampilkan sebagai kritik ideologis terhadap rasisme dalam novel Sing, Unburied, Sing (2017) karya Jesmyn Ward. Teks dianalisis dengan pendekatan naratologi dari Mieke Bal, konsep rasisme institusional dari Camara Phyllis Jones, dan konsep disfungsi keluarga dari Stoop dan Masteller. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kondisi disfungsi keluarga pada kulit hitam merupakan akibat trauma masa lalu dan tindakan rasisme yang masih terjadi. Analisis naratologi teks melalui konfrontasi tokoh membuktikan bahwa adanya penawaran konsep orang tua yang disfungsional untuk menunjukkan hasil dari tindak rasisme. Kondisi disfungsi yang dipaparkan oleh teks tidak semata-mata menunjukkan kelemahan kulit hitam, namun juga negosiasi mereka terhadap keadaan yang terjadi dan memperlihatkan kekuatan komunitas kulit hitam. Tesis ini diharapkan dapat menjadi refleksi dari kondisi masyarakat kulit hitam Amerika yang masih terbelenggu rasisme yang telah menjalar dalam ranah institusi keluarga kulit hitam. Hasil penelitian dapat digunakan untuk mempelajari relevansi antara keluarga kulit hitam yang diperlihatkan disfungsional dan tindakan rasisme yang dialami setiap individu dalam keluarga; serta sebagai kritik terhadap sistem rasisme terhadap kulit hitam Amerika.

This thesis discusses family dysfunction that is presented as an ideological critique of racism in the novel Sing, Unburied, Sing (2017) by Jesmyn Ward. This text is analyzed using narrative approach from Mieke Bal, the concept of institutional racism from Camara Phyllis Jones, and the concept of dysfunctional family from Stoop and Masteller. The result shows that the condition of family dysfunction in blacks is the consequence of past trauma and acts of racism that still occur. The narrative analysis of the text through confrontational characters proves that there is an offering concept of dysfunctional parents to show the results of racism. The dysfunctional condition described by the text does not only show black people’s weaknesses, but also shows their negotiations about the situation and the strength of the black community. This thesis is expected to be a reflection of the condition of black American society which is still shackled by racism that has spread in the realm of black family institutions. The results of the thesis can be used to study the relevance between black families who are shown to be dysfunctional and act of racism experienced by each individual in the family; as well as a critique of the system of racism against black America."
