......This thesis analyses the main character named Balram Halwai and his efforts to get himself out of his sophisticated social space in order to build himself as an independent man, and this thesis also discusses Aravind Adiga?s perspective toward the novel The White Tiger itself. This research uses the theory of the elements of novel and Pierre Bourdie?s concepts of field, habitus, capital, and distinction. The result shows that Balram, who comes from poor family and belongs to lower caste, get domination from his family as well as his master's family. Balram, then, do some efforts and strategies to make himself out of the stressing social space until he becomes a success man. Furthermore, this novel functions as a media for Aravind Adiga to declare his critics toward poverty and inequity of caste system as problems that dominate lower caste as well as complex and structural problems.

Taking a cue from the story of Trishanku-the mythological king who aspired to reach heaven while still alive-Deepak Kumar builds a compelling narrative on the state of contemporary India. Much like Trishanku, who only succeeded in being stuck in limbo between heaven and earth, India appears to be oscillating at the crossroads of modernity and tradition; development and corruption; and diversity and communalism. The Trishanku Nation presents a provocative account of a country marked by its contradictions and seamlessly combines everyday social history with academic insights. All through its civilizational progress India has defied simple categorizations. This suppleness has been its greatest strength and, to a large extent, also responsible for its myriad problems. This volume dwells on this predicament of post-Independence India. Based on memory, both historical and personal, it begins with the depiction of life in a mofussil town and moves on to examine closely issues of caste, religion, communalism, governance, corruption, education, science, culture, and so forth, as seen in the last five decades. Presented with rare verve and wit, and by using the lens of personal experiences, these rumblings help unfurl layers of life in the Indian subcontinent.

In this research article, I have tried to show a reality of Indian society through an analysis of some contemporary Hindi short stories. Caste and gender based exploitation is an inhuman reality of Indian society down ages. In their short stories a lot of Hindi writers expressed their views on Caste and gender based exploitation. They draw attention of Hindi readers to that fact that this kind of inhuman exploitation is still going on in various parts of India. They are trying to make Indian readers aware of this reality through their works.

Abstract
This undergraduate thesis discusses the application of assimilation policy towards Aboriginal half-caste children in Australia. The discussion begins from 1937, where all of the States_ representatives as well as the representative of the Northern Territory participated in the Australian National First Conference on the Aboriginal issues held in Canberra. The Conference has been considered as a milestone regarding the application of assimilation policy towards Aboriginal people, especially half-caste descents. However, the introduction of assimilation policy was delayed because the World War II. By 1951 all of the Australian States and the Northern Territory adopted the assimilation policy. The assimilation policy assumed _the white culture and lifestyle is superior and Aboriginal culture and lifestyle is without value_. The application of assimilation policy seemed to have been controversial since the policy continued the practices of the previous protection policy that removing Aboriginal half-caste children from their families to the Aboriginal institutions. The year 1967 legally witnessed the end of assimilation policy in Australia. Since that year the integration policy towards the Aboriginal people, including the half-caste children has been implemented. This, means the Aboriginal people has been included into the larger Australia society under the Australian governmental system

In the late 1990s, a group representing Dalits in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu called the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi-or Liberation Panthers Party-shook the established social and political structures. For over a decade they boycotted elections, questioning the legitimacy of institutions that failed to implement constitutional provisions and allowed casteism to persist. The Panthers conducted mass awareness campaigns for Dalit liberation, instilling a sense of empowerment in a hitherto marginalized population. Eventually, labelled as extremists and alienated by the State, the Panthers were pushed into electoral politics. How the Panthers mobilized themselves and managed to effect changes in Tamil Nadus politics is the main premise of this ethnographic account. Looking into the processes of transition therein, the author discusses how caste considerations inform and underpin politics in the state and whether the Panthers will erode or adapt to hegemonic caste power. With its micro-empirical focus on identity politics in Tamil Nadu, the book also explores diverse dimensions of mobilization and ways in which contentious politics alters political regimes.

This paper investigates caste /ethnicity based inequity in women's health service utilization, particularly focusing on antenatal care (ANC) in the socioculturally complex patriarchal context of Nepal. Numerous studies worldwide have examined the effects of various factors contributing to antenatal care. However, much less is known about the influence of caste/ ethnicity on women's health-care utilization in Nepal. Using the nationally representative Nepal Demographic Health Survey (NDHS) Data 2011, a multilevel logistic regression was run with results suggesting that both non-economic (caste/ethnicity) and economic (household wealth) factors influence women's health-care utilization. First, women who belong to a disadvantaged caste/ethnicity such as the Hill Janajafi, Hill and Terai Dalit and Muslims are significantly less likely to make four plus antenatal care visits compared to the advantaged Bahun/Chhetri mothers. Second, mothers who belong to the wealthier category are significantly advantaged in terms of using antenatal care services compared to the poorest category of mothers. Third, contrary to the common assumption, mothers from the advantaged caste/ethnicity (Bahun/Chhetri and Newar) do not always fare better in all aspects of life; when from the poorest households, they are not significantly different in terms of antenatal care compared the poorest mothers who are from a disadvantaged caste/ethnicity. Tliese findings offer evidence against the misassumption that individuals of advantaged caste/ ethnicities are always privileged, suggesting that health policies should take into account the intertwining effects of both caste/ethnicity and economic status in order to improve women's health and well-being.
