"This research was held in 2006 for six months. It has been done because the audience was considering become the power to determine the Television program strength. As we know the audience has an important position in mediated communication, they are aqual with communicator or text. The research of television audience is to complete the studies about television; however text will be meaningful if they deliver by the new communicator. Children are the research object in order to know how much television become a part of daily life, especially television programmed that broadcast the cartoon. This research involves three children with different social culture as an informant that lives in Banyuwangi. The research focus is analyze the practical of watching television activity of those three children and what kind of matter that negative and integrated in their daily life."

"Televisi telah ada sejak abad 18 akan tetapi mulai berkembang pada abad 19 dimulai dari televisi hitam putih hingga berwama. Televisi Amerika memiliki acara televisi yang beragam ada yang bersifat positif dan negatif menurut Milton Chen seorang Direktur KOED Center for Education and Lifelong Learning (CELL). Acara televisi yang negatif mengandung unsur kekerasan dan seks sedangkan positif yang mendidik anak-anak untuk mengembangkan kemampuan kreatifitasnya dan daya nalar mereka. Untuk memenuhi sasaran penilitian saya menggunakan metode penelitian kepustakaan dengan mengumpulkan data-data dan metode penelitian kualitatif.Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa dampak televisi dan kejahatan anak-anak yang dilakukan pada usia 8 hingga 15 tahun dari tahun 1970 sampai dengan 1997 perubahan yang signifikan di Amerika Serikat terhadap tayangan-tayangan yang bersifat negatif yang menimbulkan mereka untuk meniru dan melakukan hal yang mereka lihat di televisi tanpa bimbingan orang tua untuk mencema apa yang mereka lihat sehingga teman yang menghibur disaat orang tua tidak ada ialah televisi. Kejahatan yang dilakukan mereka membuktikan bahwa televisi secara tidak langsung mempengaruhi mereka dalam kehidupan nyata."

"What do children watch on Indonesian television? This article tries to answer this question in the conviction that TV shows made for children require an understanding of their needs in order to grow, motorically, cognitively, psychologically, socially, and culturally. From my own fieldwork and research done on the data provided by my informants, I found that on television during the time slot set for children there are shows that are not intended for children to watch. I also found that children enjoy two favourite television shows in Indonesia the most, which are not programs designated for children. The conclusion is that Indonesian television pays little attention to children?s needs, and children are neglected."
