Abstrak :
Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk memahami ikonografi Dewa Wisnu di Jawa Timur pada abad ke 12-M – 15 M. Ikonografi (iconography) berasal dari bahasa Yunani, yaitu eikoon memiliki arti gambar dan graphoo artinya menulis. Jika diartikan secara harfiah, maka ikonografi memiliki arti “suatu benda yang menggambarkan sosok dewa dalam bentuk-bentuk tertentu, seperti arca, relief, dan lain-lain”. Dalam hal tersebut, ikonografi berkaitan dengan penggambaran sosok dewa dalam bentuk arca yang akan ditampilkan. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah dengan mengetahui ikonografi Dewa Wisnu, maka informasi mengenai keberagaman penggambaran arca dewa serta faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhinya. ......The purpose of this research is to understand the iconography of God Vishnu in East Java on 12th – 15th centuries. Iconography is the word based from Greek, eikoon means images, and graphoo means write. Iconography means “a thing that represents a god in a other forms, like statue, relief, etc.”. In this context, iconography has a connection with a god representation on the statue. The result of this research is knowing an iconography of God Vishnu and getting information about the diversity of god statue and the factors that affect the depiction.

Penelitian ini mengkaji penggambaran relief Hirayagarbha dan hubungannya dengan ritual keagamaan Buddha di kaki Candi Mendut. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui variasi penggambaran relief yang berhubungan dengan prosesi ritual Buddha. Melalui deskripsi dan perbandingan, penelitian ini akan memaparkan hasil mengenai variasi penggambaran relief Hirayagarbha. Relief Hirayagarbha di candi-candi di Jawa Tengah abad 8 mdash;10 M memiliki persamaan corak penggambaran karena dibangun pada masa pemerintahan dinasti yang sama. Hasil pemaparan penggambaran relief Hirayagarbha di kaki Candi Mendut juga akan menunjukan arah keliling candi di dalam prosesi ritual keagaman.

ABSTRACT
This research describes the depiction of The Hira yagarbha relief and its relation to The Buddhist religious rituals on the foot of Mendut Temple. The purpose of this research is to figure out the reliefs variations that is related to The Buddhist rituals procession. Based on a description and comparison, this research describes the result of the depiction variations of The Hira yagarbha relief. The Hira yagarbha reliefs in the 8th mdash 10th century Central Java rsquo s Temples have the same depiction style because they were built during the same dynasty. The explanation of Hira yagarbha relief rsquo s depiction on the foot of Mendut Temple will also show the walking direction in the temple ritual procession.
