"Di Indonesia turunnya harga minyak pada pertengahan tahun 2014 ditambah dengan semakin menurunnya produksi minyak dan gas bumi karena penurunan alamiah dari lapangan-lapangan tua membuat operator-operator PSC (Production Sharing Contract) menganalisa kembali keekonomian dari pabrik-pabrik pengolahan minyak dan gas bumi mereka. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa keputusan penutupan pabrik LPG beserta aspek teknis dan finansial yang berkaitan dengan penutupan tersebut. Hasil kajian finansial menunjukkan bahwa pabrik LPG yang sudah beroperasi selama 40 tahun ini terbukti tidak ekonomis lagi untuk tetap dioperasikan. Nilai forecast dari sensitivitas analisis juga menunjukkan bahwa kemungkinan untuk reaktivasi pabrik LPG ini di masa depan sangat kecil sehingga perlu di lakukan preservasi terhadap pabrik LPG hingga kontrak kerja berakhir. Kajian kelayakan operasi juga menunjukkan bahwa kenaikan 1,5 MMSCFD dari gas alam yang tidak diolah pabrik LPG yang dialirkan menuju kompresor tingkat 2 tidak mengakibatkan kenaikan vibrasi pada kompresor tersebut yang dapat mengganggu operasi penyaluran gas alam ke LNG Bontang dan East Kalimantan Pipeline.

In Indonesia the decline in oil prices in mid 2014 coupled with the decline in oil and gas production due to the natural decline of old fields makes operators PSC reanalyzed the economics of their processing factories. The less economical processing of natural gas that is processed into LPG requires the company took the decision to shut down its LPG plant. This study aims to analyze the decision to shut down the LPG plant along with technical and financial aspects related to the closure.

Financial results of the study showed that the LPG plant that has been operating for 40 years has proved no longer economical to remain in operation. Forecast value of the sensitivity analysis also showed that the possibility for the reactivation of the LPG plant in the future is so small so that the company needs to conduct preservation procedure of the LPG plant until the expiration of the contract. Operating feasibility study also shows that an increase of 1.5 MMSCFD of natural gas untreated to the compressor will not resulting in increased levels of vibration in the compressor which can interfere with the operation of natural gas supply to Bontang LNG and East Kalimantan Pipeline."
