Plaque accumulation on internal surface of denture is a common problem among removable denture wearers. Poor denture cleanliness can increase colonization of Candida albicans and cause inflammatory reaction of denture-bearing mucosa, i.e. denture stomatitis. Objective: To find out the effect of denture cleanliness level on denture stomatitis on maxillary denture-bearing mucosa in a group of removable denture wearers who received prosthodontic treatment at Poliklinik Gigi RSMH Palembang and to investigate the denture hygiene habits of removable denture wearers. Methods: Thirty subjects participated in this study. Denture cleanliness level was assessed with disclosing solution to disclose denture plaque on internal surface of maxillary denture. Cleanliness level was graded according to Budtz-Jorgensen. Intraoral examination was done to determine any visible signs of denture stomatitis. Data referring to denture hygiene habits of removable denture wearers was collected from interview using questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Komolgorov-Smirnov test. Results: Result of the study showed that 40% subjects had poor upper denture cleanliness. Denture stomatitis was observed on maxillary denture-bearing mucosa in 43.3% subjects. Kolmogorov-Smirnov test showed that there was a significant effect of denture cleanliness level on denture stomatitis on maxillary denture-bearing mucosa (p<0.05). Conclusion: Denture cleanliness level influence the occurence of denture stomatitis on maxillary denture bearing-mucosa in a group of removable denture wearers who received prosthodontic treatment.

Objective: To assess the oral health status and oral hygiene habits of the dependent elderly in Muang Phitsanulok, Thailand. Methods: 70 dependent elderly with an activity of daily living score of 0 - 4 were selected for this study using a convenience sampling technique. Both participants and their caregivers were interviewed and an oral examination was carried out on all subjects. Information regarding demographics, oral health care habits, and oral health status including dental caries, remaining dentition, and occluding pairs of teeth was collected. The data was analysed using descriptive statistics. Results: Results showed that 82.1% of the participants had at least one carious lesion. 62.9% of subjects possessed their natural dentition, however 52% of those did not have any occluding teeth. The majority of the edentulous group were categorised as a low socioeconomic status. Interestingly, none of the dentate group reported ever flossing their teeth, 31.9% brushed their teeth twice daily, and 14.3% reported that they did not employ any oral hygiene methods. Additionally, it was found that the caregivers played a major role in the oral health care of the dependent elderly. Conclusion: The oral health of the dependent elderly is generally poor, especially amongst the low socioeconomic community. The subject’s declining dexterity and increase of general health risks limits their ability to maintain acceptable oral health.

Background: Little information has been published regarding sensitive teeth in Indonesian adults. The aim of this study was to investigate tooth sensitivity in Indonesian adults and to explore the associated factors. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in 2021 in Indonesia. This study used a self-administered questionnaire consisting of questions about socio-demographic, oral health behavior, diet, the impact of sensitive teeth and the internet media used to search for sensitive teeth information. Chi square and logistic regression were used for analysis. Results: The number of respondents in this study was 802 people and 41.8% of them reported sensitive teeth. Sensitive teeth were associated with untreated dental and oral health problems and the respondent's frequency of vomiting (p < 0.05). The effects of sensitive teeth that are most often complained of are the choice of drinks, food choices, and changes in brushing habits. The most frequent information media in sequence are Google, Instagram, and Youtube. Conclusion: The proportion of sensitive teeth is relatively high and has an impact on the daily life of adults in Indonesia. They tend to seek help and information through the internet. This situation can be brought to the attention of dentists to help prevent and reduce the discomfort that arises from the condition.

Abstrak :
Autism is a pervasive developmental disorder that is aetiologically and clinically heterogeneous. Behavior of the autistic child makes delivery of oral hygiene and dental treatment a problem because of its lack of communication and decreased intelligence. The status of dental health depends on the care of oral hygiene to the auxilary help of parents and educators. Poor food habits are common and diet is often antithetic to good oral health, persistent desire for soft food or sweets is often seen. The caries experience is a comparable with a lower hygiene level than those of the normal children. The dental health education of the autistic children is inherently unresponsive to demonstration, resists eye to eye contact and will frequently resist any effort to establish personal contacts with the dental personnel. Patient management will therefore be qualitatively different from person to person and shall be based on a unique management of the behavioral characteristics. The purpose of this paper is to help the dentist recognized the problems associated with dental treatment, the behaviour in a dental enviroment of the autistic child and their coordination ability required to be assessed, so that the right dental treatment could be adjusted.

......Dental and oral health in Indonesia is still an unsolved problem. As many as 57.6% of the Indonesian population who have dental and oral health problems, only 10.2% of the population receive treatment from dental medical workers. This thesis aims to prove that health insurance ownership increases the utilization of dental and oral health services to dental medical workers in Indonesia in 2018. This study uses integrated data from Riskesdas and Susesnas 2018 with a cross sectional study design. For modeling, instrumental variables is used because of the endogeneity of the health insurance ownership variable. The results of the study also compare the magnitude of the effect between the JKN and Non-JKN health insurance ownership.
