"Artikel ini membahas mengenai kebijakan Gubernur Tjokropranolo dalam meremajakan angkutan oplet. Dalam kebijakan ini oplet digantikan fungsinya ke jenis angkutan umum yang lebih modern yaitu mikrolet. Sebelumnya oplet hanya digunakan sebagai kendaraan pribadi, baru pada tahun 1960-an oplet resmi menjadi angkutan umum di DKI Jakarta. Berbeda dengan kajian-kajian sebelumnya yang hanya berfokus kepada pelayanan dan perizinan oplet di luar kota Jakarta. Fokus penelitian ini adalah peremajaan oplet di Jakarta. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode sejarah. Dalam proses heuristik penelitian, pencarian data berupa wawancara, arsip, dan surat kabar merupakan sasaran utama dalam penelitian ini. Hasil yang didapat dalam penelitian ini adalah kebijakan peremajaan oplet berhasil dijalankan, meskipun proses peremajaannya tidak berjalan dengan lancar. Pemerintah memberikan kemudahan untuk pemilik dan pengemudi oplet dalam mengganti angkutannya melalui Kredit Investasi Kecil (KIK). Namun kebijakan ini berdampak buruk bagi pemilik dan pengemudi oplet. Besarnya jumlah kredit yang harus dibayar membuat sebagian pemilik mikrolet bukan merupakan pemilik ataupun pengemudi oplet yang asli.

This article discusses the policy of Governor Tjokropranolo in rejuvenating oplet. In this policy, oplet has been replaced by other more modern types of public transportation, mikrolet. Previously, oplet was only used as personal transportation, until it is officially became public transportation in DKI Jakarta in 1960s. In contrast to previous studies which only focused on services and licensing for oplet outside Jakarta. This study focuses is the rejuvenation of oplet in Jakarta. The research method used is the historical method. In the heuristic process, interviews, archives, and contemporary newspapers are the main targets in this process. The results in this study were the oplet rejuvenation policy was successfully implemented, although the rejuvenation process didn’t run smoothly. The government provides convenience for oplet owners and drivers in changing their transportation through Small Investment Credit (SIC). Nevertheless, this policy has a bad impact for them. The amount of credit to be paid makes some mikrolet owners not the original owners or drivers of the oplet."
