Saliva is essential for preservation of oral health. It aids in preparation of the initial food bolus, assist in taste and swallowing, and lubricates the oral mucosa. In addition it has antiviral, antifungal, and antibacterial properties. Consequently, salivary gland dysfunction can lead to complaints of oral dryness (xerostomia). Diseases of the thyroid gland, hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, and their treatment have also been suggested to cause salivary gland dysfunction. In addition head and neck radiation therapy, treatment for head and neck cancers can cause irreversible salivary gland function. This case study, reported one patient with thyroid cancer in which the thyroid gland has been removed and received head and neck radiation therapy.

Mucous membrane pemphigoid (MMP) also known as cicatricial pemphigoid is a chronic autoimmune subepithelial blistering disease primarily affecting people over 50 years old. MMP may affect any mucosal surface which is particularly oral mucosal, conjungtiva, esophagus, or larinx is involved. MMP rarely occurs in children and adolescents, but several cases of MMP affecting 2 to 18 years old patients have been reported in previous studies. In this paper we reported a case of MMP in an eighteen year old male patient who had been diagnosed with oral mucous membrane pemphigoid by anamnesis, clinical feature, histopathology. The patient was treated with systemic corticosteroid, topical corticosteroid, oral rinse and multivitamins. Until recently corticosteroid remains as the most effective and the drug of choice to treat pemphigoid lesions. Clinicians need to pay attention in using this drug because of its potential side effect.

Indonesian Journal of Dentistry 2006; Edisi Khusus KPPIKG XIV: 7-11 Mucous membrane pemphigoid (MMP) is an autoimmune mucocutaneous blistering disease characterized by autoantibodies to components within the basement membrane zone. The lesions may produce risk of scarring of the canthus (symblepharon), inversion of the eyelashes (entropion) and trauma to the cornea (trichiasis). We reported a case of MMP in a 56-year old female with diabetes mellitus and hypertension whose ocular involvement has lead to blindness of the right eye. The diagnosis MMP was base on the history and clinical findings in oral medicine department. Management of this patient inclueded the administration of antifungal, corticosteroid ; diaminodiphenylsulfone, nutritional supplementation. oral hygiene promotion and consultation to internal medicine specialist and opthalmologis. The improvement of oral lesions progressed well within five months. we conclude that optimal improvement can be reached by comprehesieve management with controlling systemic factors and good cooperation between medical team and patient. and patien

Abstrak :
In adult patients if the jaw discrepancy is too great to compensate for, and camouflage by tooth movement alone, surgery is the only way to obtain a resonable result. Before surgery, the orthodontist must establish not only anteropostrior and transverse position, but also the vertical position of the teeth. Inadequate orthodontic preparation can jeopardize the quality of the surgical result. Occlusion is important but satisfactory facial esthetic must accompany it. A good team work between orthodontist and oral surgeon is the key of succes of the treatment, which will be shown in case reports of 3 patients.

Le Fort I osteotomy is the surgery in the maksila similar to the live fracture of the Fort I. In the orthognathic surgery, Le Fort I osteotomy is the best choice for the correction of vertical dimension and relatively easy and middle and sufficient to reposisi and maksila. For the open bite case anteriory and postering in the patient could be performed. Le Fort I osteotomy in the posterior and repositioned part of maksila toward posuride so it could be occluded, functional and restored in the intended aesthetic.

ABSTRAK
Forum IoT Indonesia memprediksi potensi pasar IoT Indonesia tahun 2020 mencapai sekitar 35 miliar dolar.
