マスメディアは、インドネシア語の発展において大きな役割を果たしており、良くも悪くも影響力が大きい。本論文では、標準インドネシア語の規則から外れているとみなされる使用例の分析を行う。インドネシアの二言語話者の一部には、テレビでのコミュニケーションにおいてコード切り替えとコード混在を行う傾向が見られる。言語要素の切り替えや混在は、和やかさ、親密さ、威信、話者のネガティブな態度といった要素によって多く起きうる。出版メディアでは、特に4つの点、すなわち、外来語、文法、省略、表記において誤用・逸脱が起きる ;1) 外来語については、その意味の単語がすでにインドネシア語にあるにもかかわらず、さらに原語のまま取り入れられてしまう ;2) 文法については、しばしば書き手に主語、述語、目的語、補語についての知識がないために、能動文と受動文を正しく表すことができない ;3) 省略に関しては、書き手が不要な節を繰り返してしまい、該当する段落の情報が効果的に伝わらない ;4) 表記の誤りもまた、情報の正確さを減じる。例えば形態素diは、受動を表す接頭辞でもあり、前置詞でもあるという同音異義の理解が必要である。動詞であれば、di rumahsakitkan ではなく、dirumahsakitkan（病院に入れられる）と表記し、一方前置詞であれば、前置詞句di rumah sakit（病院で）のように、切り離して表記する...

外国語教育には二つの目的がある。第一に、平和で円滑なコミュニケーションの実現、第二に、悪意のあるコミュニケーションへの対処である。前者は多言語・多文化主義に基づく多様な世界の尊重に通じ、後者は権威主義的パーソナリティによる他者や弱者―たとえばユダヤ人―の排除といった単一化に通じる。従来の外国語教育では前者を重視して語学能力の向上に努めてきた。だがそれだけでは後者のような陰湿なコミュニケーションには対応できない。そこでハーバーマスが重視したのが言語学の語用論的能力である。つまり、文字上の表面的な内容伝達が当該コミュニケーションの主眼ではなく、後者のようなコミュニケーション―むしろ聞き手を窮地に追い込もうとする話し手の邪悪な思惑や嫌がらせを目的とした―を看破しなければならない。さらに、寛容で強靭な人文知を身につけるためにはたとえばドイッチュラントフンクのような機会を活用し、グローバル化に翻弄される世界の動向を把握しなければならないことを、具体例を用いながら実証する...
