エスペラント語はL.L. ザメンホフによって1887 年に発表された人工言語（国際共通補助語）である。本稿では、大阪大学外国語学部におけるエスペラント語教育の歴史を概観したのち、エスペラント語の所有形にみられる規則性と不規則性について考察する。エスペラント語の人称代名詞には理論的には二種類の所有形がありうる。ひとつはエスペラント語文法に規定された所有形であり、人称代名詞に形容詞語尾"a"を付加した形式である。もうひとつはエスペラント語の相関詞表から類推される形式であり、人称代名詞に所有の相関詞の標識"es"を付加したものである。形式的にいえば前者がむしろ不規則であり、後者が規則的である。しかし実際には前者しか使用されない。その原因は、人称代名詞の有生性によるものではないかと論じる。...

私は日本に来て初めてヒンディー語を母語としない外国人にヒンディー語を教えるという貴重な経験をしている。まだその経験の途中にあることから、確定的なことは言えないが、私自身がこの経験から多くのことを学びつつあり、また私の経験を読む読者がそこから何か得るところがあれば私のこの文章にも何らかの意味があることを期待している。具体的なことで言えば、ヒンディー語の子音と母音の正確な発音の習得が日本人には容易でないことを改めて知った。その点はしかし学生たちの努力によってかなりの程度克服することができたことも事実である。しかし、それ以上に授業で学ぶことを難しくしているのは、言語の背景にあるインドと日本の文化的な違いである。例えば日本人学生にとって犬はとてもかわいい動物であるが、インドでは必ずしもそうではない。そのことがインド人が犬を描くことで表現していることを正確に理解することを難しくしている。教室の外でヒンディー語を話したり聞いたりする環境にないことも学生にとっての学習につきまとうもう一つの大きな問題である。日本人学生が本をあまり読んでいるように見えないことにも懸念を覚えている。ヒンディー語の映画を観ることも有益であるし、インターネットを活用してヒンディー語の実際に触れることも効果が大きいと考える。しかし、これまでの私の経験から、なんと言ってもヒンディー語の学習にとって一つ非常に効果があると思えるのは、語劇への参加である。何とか多くの学生が、できれば全員が何らかの形で語劇を通じて､生きた会話の練習をすることができれば良いと願っている...
