"ABSTRAK
Age Factor in Learning Dutch: A Psycholinguistics Study About Children in Comparison with AdultsThis study is focused on age factor in learning Dutch by children age 9 - 14 years en adults age 18 - 21 years. The problems that are analyzed are not only those of learning Dutch as a foreign language (L2), but also psychological problems. For that reason the study of age factor in learning Dutch as L2 is related with a psychological study of children in comparison with adults.
To analyze the learning of Dutch as a L2 by children and adults is used an experimental method of analysis: observation in artificial condition, in which the condition is created by the analyst. Thus, the experimental analysis is an analysis that is made by manipulation and control of the objects of the analysis. The subject of the analysis is determined by the use of Dutch grammatical rules as Verb Final en Inversie, because these are grammatical characteristics of the Dutch language that are not used in other foreign languages.
The study find out that the adults have better results than the children on behalf of the way of learning the language, which method is used in learning L2, for example cognitive maturity and cognitive activity. Also adults are more aware in correcting mistakes in L2."

"This research observes a correlation of two variables, verbal reasoning skill as an independent variable and pro¬blem solving skill on storical arithmetic as a dependent variable. By observing the correlation of those two varia¬bles, the influence of one variable to the other one and tendencies coming up from responding concerning to those two skills can be found. Method used in this research is ex post facto methode as the variables being observed have happened before without researcher's manipulation.
This research is conducted in Tegal Regency, Central Java. Samples are taken from more or less fourteen years old students who have been experiencing with early formal opera¬tion of cognitive growth stage. Sampling technique used ie multistage sampling for 120 respondents. Data analysis tech¬nique used is quantitative by using two kinds of statistic, descriptive and analitical statistic.
The results of this research shows that there is a positive correlation between X variable and Y variable with significant correlation of 0,730. Significant test to the influence of X variable to Y variable using linier regressi¬on also shows that there is a significant influence, that is on the 0,05 significant value, t-student test shows that (11,583) is greater than ttable (1,645). Besides those, it is also known that either verbal reasoning skill or problem solving skill on storical arithmetic are low. The comprehen¬sion to sentence structure and the way how to make conclusi¬on generally have not been mastered well. Tendencies in making conclusion is done by combining the stated premises. In general, the respondents experience difficulties in solving the storical arithmetic problems. This problem is caused by the language comprehension and arithmetical problem itself."

"ABSTRAK
Tesis ini membahas galat koherensi dan kohesi dalam karangan naratif pelajar
bahasa Inggris. Sumber data yang digunakan berupa 45 karangan naratif yang
ditulis oleh pelajar kelas XI, SMAN 2 Kabupaten Tangerang. Tahapan analisis
dilakukan berdasarkan metodologi analisis galat. Hasil analisis menunjukkan
bahwa jenis galat koherensi yang paling banyak ditemukan adalah sequential
coherence. Temuan itu mengindikasikan bahwa pelajar mengalami kesulitan
dalam menyusun dan menghubungkan antarkonsep di dalam sebuah paragraf.
Sementara itu, jenis galat kohesi dominan pada salah bentuk dan penghilangan
referensi. Selanjutnya, ditemukan tiga penyebab galat koherensi dan kohesi.
Ketiga penyebab itu adalah generalisasi berlebih, penerapan kaidah yang tak
lengkap, dan overlooking cooccurrence restrictions. Berdasarkan temuan yang
diperoleh, diketahui bahwa kemahiran pelajar dalam menulis karangan naratif
yang koheren dan kohesif masih rendah.

ABSTRACT
This thesis discusses coherence and cohesion errors in English learners’ narrative
compositions. The data used in this research are 45 narrative compositions written
by XI graders of SMAN 2 Kabupaten Tangerang. The procedures of analysis are
based on the methodology of error analysis. The analysis results reveal that the
most frequent coherence errors belong to sequential coherence. This finding
indicates that the learners have difficulty in arranging and connecting the concepts
in a paragraph. The most frequent cohesion errors belong to reference
misformation and omission. In addition, three causes of coherence and cohesion
errors are found. They are overgeneralization, incomplete rule application, and
overlooking cooccurrence restrictions. Based on those findings, it is found that the
learners’ skill in writing coherence and cohesion narrative composition is low."
