"Perubahan pada bangunan yang sering ditemui yaitu perubahan pada ruko. Ruko yang semula digunakan sebagai rumah dan toko, belakangan didisain agar dapat mengakomodir berbagai guna bangunan, salah satunya sebagai hotel. Fenomena tersebut, khususnya yang marak terjadi di Makassar kemudian menjadi topik pada skripsi saya. Perubahan ruko ini membawa anggapan bahwa ruko sebagai bangunan yang fleksibel. Untuk mengetahui sejauh mana ruko mampu mengakomodir fungsi hotel, maka dilakukan analisis terhadap 2 bangunan hotel yang merupakan transformasi dari ruko. Analisis yang digunakan terkait dengan teori perubahan layer pada bangunan dan keselarasan antara bentuk (form) dan konteks (context) pada bangunan. Berdasarkan hasil studi kasus dapat disimpulkan bahwa tidak mudah bagi ruko untuk mengakomodir guna hotel. Hanya kelas hotel tertentu yang mampu diakomodir, seperti hotel kelas melati. Banyaknya perubahan yang terjadi pada ruko juga membuktikan bahwa ruko belum cukup fleksibel untuk mengakomodir perubahan guna bangunan.

The change of building uses which often encountered is the changes ofshophouse. Shophouse that was originally used just as a house and a shop has recently been designed ini order to accommodate all various sorts of building use, one of them as a hotel. That phenomenal, specifically happens in Makassar which became a topic of my thesis. Later, changes in this shophouse brings the assumption that the shophouse is a flexible building. To determine the extent which of the shophouse could accommodate the change in building use as a hotel, we have to analyze of two hotels which are the transformation of the shophouse. The analysis which to be used refers to the theory of layer changes in building and the harmony between form and context in building. Based on the case study, it could be concluded that is not easy for the shophouse to accommodate the building functions as a hotel. Only a certain class of hotel that could be accommodated, such as low budget hotel. The many changes that happened prove that shophouse yet flexible enough to accommodate changes of building uses."

"PT Hotel Indonesia Natour (PT.HlN) as a corporate was built from the merger between PT Hotel Indonesia lnternational (PT.HII) and PT Natour in 2001. The decline of physical service quality (tangible) and the service level (intagible) will influence the competitive ability ofthe hotel business. A vertical and bureaucratic organization , the creating of cultural corporate devoid of market and competitive oriented enable decline of service quality to occur which also affect the functioning in overall.Paying close attention to the the problem above, this research is focused on how the process of PT HIN transformiation with the management policy and its implementation can create value to the consumer in the form of service quality, tangible as well as intagible. This research observes a model in many dimensions, such as: Renewal, Reframe, Restructure, and Revitalize (Gouillart & Kelly:1995). The transformation process will affect in the service quality given by a corporate. The indicators being used to measure the standard of a quality service are Tangible, Reliablity, Reponsiveness, Assurance, and Empathy (Zaithaml, Parasuraman & Berry:1990).Based on its purpose, this research is called Explanatory, since there are causal factors as the independent variable and effects arose as the dependent variable. Meanwhile, based on the technique of data collecting, this research can be classified as quantitative survey. The data tabulation is carried out with SEM method. SEM or Structural Equation Modeling is a method to observe the relation between the indicator and its variable (measurement model), as well as among other variables (structural model) using a software called LISREL 8.3.The research result shows a significant relation only in several dimensions of the transformation with the service quality; and there is a symmetrical positive relation (correlation) among those dimensions. The suggestion given as a result of mis research is the need for PT.HlN to perform the incremental and sustainable transformation process."

"ABSTRAKRuko di Palembang muncul sejak era kolonialisme di daerah perdagangan di kota Palembang. Makalah ini membahas bagaimana ruko di Palembang sebagai salah satu area komersial terpenting dalam berbagai ekspresi dan transformasi dari waktu ke waktu, terlibat dalam sejarah, dan budaya lingkungan perkotaan di Kota Palembang. Masyrakat Cina memperkenalkan bangunan ruko di tempat pertama yang dibawa dari tanah asalnya dan telah ada beberapa adaptasi dengan kondisi setempat. Ada perubahan yang signifikan di bagian interior, namun perubahan yang lebih lambat di bagian luar ruko. Analisis ini berfokus pada penataan ruang yang menghasilkan orientasi ke dalam-ke luar, organisasi linier, dan kedekatan-keterbukaan terlepas dari bentuk bangunan. Makalah ini lebih jauh menganalisis pentingnya ruko di kota Palembang dan bagaimana hal itu menopang perubahan kota, termasuk fasad yang menciptakan kesinambungan visual di daerah tersebut. Makalah ini menyimpulkan bahwa perubahan ruko di Palembang terkait dengan gagasan fungsionalitas, serta mempertahankan budaya dan lingkungan perkotaan, dan citra kota atau kawasannya.

ABSTRACTShophouses in Palembang appearing since the colonialism era at the trading area in Palembang city. This paper discusses how shophouses in Palembang as one of the most important commercial area in its various expressions and transformations over time, involves in the history, and culture of urban environments of the Palembang City. Chinese introduced shop house building at the first place that were brought from their original land and there has been some adaptation to local conditions. There had been rapid changes in the interior, yet slower change in the exterior of shophouses. The analysis focuses on the spatial arrangement which resulted in the inward-outward orientation, linear organization, and closeness-openness regardless of the shape of the building. This paper further analyzes the importance of shophouses in Palembang city and how it sustains the change of the city, including the façade that create a visual continuity in the area. The paper concludes that changes of shophouse in Palembang are related to the idea of functionality, as well as sustaining the culture and urban environment, especially though maintaining the images of city or the district."

" ABSTRAK Kota Makassar adalah pusat pemerintahan, pendidikan, dan perekonomian di Sulawesi Selatan. Hal ini menjadi daya tarik masyarakat untuk menetap di Kota Makassar. Kota Makassar didiami oleh berbagai macam etnis dan dapat dibuktikan dari adanya perkampungan etnis atau suku tertentu yang ada di Kota Makassar seperti Kampung Toraja dan Kampung Mandar. Hal tersebut mempengaruhi kondisi kebahasaan di Kota Makassar. Atas dasar tersebut, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mendeskripsikan variasi bahasa apa saja yang terdapat di Kota Makassar dan menjelaskan letak batas bahasa dan dialek di Kota Makassar. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Berdasarkan penghitungan dialektometri, ditemukan dua bahasa yang terdapat di Kota Makassar, yakni bahasa Makassar dan bahasa Mandar.

ABSTRACT Makassar City is the center of government, education, and economy in South Sulawesi. This becomes a public appeal for citizens to settle in Makassar City. Makassar inhabited by various ethnic and can be proven by the existence of ethnic villages in Makassar such as Toraja Village and Mandar Village. It affects the language situation in Makassar city. Based on that, this study was conducted to describe any language variation in Makassar and explain where the limits of language and dialect in Makassar. The method used in this study are qualitative and quantitative. Based on the dialectometry calculation, two languages are found in Makassar City, which is Makassar language and Mandar language."
