"This article discusses to what extent, of at all, the concerns embodied in the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda take priority over respect for patriachal local customs and institutions when undertaking Post-Conflict Peace Building (PCPB) missions in fragile states. It argues that the concerns embodied in WPS agenda should take priority over respect for patriachal local customs and institutions to the extent that it addresses three challenges: (1) interntional interventions; (2) the separation of dimension in "silos"; and (3) the women oriented bias. This article looks at three perspectives to answer the challenges. The first is the Feminist Hybridity Perspevtives's arguments that emphasize the collaboration of international capacities and local knowledge in prioritizing the international intervention. The second is the Feminist Political Economy Perspective's arguments that suggest an integrated approach between political security dimension and socio-economic dimension to tackle the challenge of incomprehensive approach due to separation between the two during the PCPB missions. The third is the gender as national interest perspective that provides a basis for the continuation of the discourse on the WPS Agenda by nation-states in order to answer the challenge of the women-orianted bias."

"ABSTRAKThis article explains developments in Latin American that could give impacts for Indonesian economic diplomacy. It argues that Indonesia should explore the emerging markets in Latin American countries in the future. The non-traditional markets for Indoneisan in Latin American will include Mexico and Chile as the prospective markets. It also proposes the economic strategies to penetrate non-traditional markets in Latin American countries."

"ABSTRAKThis article discusses the influence of democratic political system on economic performance of a country. It examines Dambisa Moyo's claim that democracy could pose a negative influence on economic growth, in the context of post-2010 Myanmar's political and economic situation. A simple observation on Myanmar's situation tends to present a contadictory situation to Moyo's argument, showing that democratisation supports economic growth. With a closer observation on Myanmar's democratisation process, this article affirms that the democratisation in Myanmar is followed by the improvement of economic institutions, a critical factor for growth. Meanwhile, it is also observed that the democratisation process led to the establishment of a "hybrid" system, in which the features of the former regime can still be found in many aspects of governance."

"ABSTRAKPost 911 era identified that the nature of international relation has been rapidly changed due to simultaneous development of its actors, the use of information, communication, and technology (ICT), and the the dynamic changes of agendas of state's foreign policy conduct. These changes have emphasized the significance of state-led conventional diplomacy as a main tool of foreign policy. To some extent, a model of public diplomacy is widely developed as an alternative in many countries including Indonesia. It is chosen because public diplomacy is concerned with the effective influence of the countries Soft Power and it is also less expensive compared to conventional diplomacy. The main question raised in this research is that what is the strategic role of indonesianis abroad on developing indonesia's public diplomacy? And how has public diplomacy been conducted and what role has Indonesianist palyed in foreign policy?"

"Skripsi ini membahas tentang hubungan Indonesia dengan Australia ketika diberlakukannya The Agreement on Maintaining Security (AMS) pada tahun 1995-1999. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian sejarah diplomasi yang memfokuskan pada bidang pertahanan dan keamanan, khususnya tentang persetujuan keamanan yang dibuat oleh Indonesia dan Australia pada tahun 1995. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode sejarah dengan menggunakan sumber-sumber tertulis. Perbedaan penelitian ini dengan penelitian lain yang sejenis yaitu ruang lingkup permasalahannya yang menjadikan The Agreement on Maintaining Security (AMS) sebagai fokus pembahasan. Hasil dari penelitian ini menjelaskan bahwa AMS membuat hubungan kedua negara berada pada titik yang terdekat dibandingkan periode-periode sebelumnya. Akan tetapi, ternyata AMS tidak dapat bertahan lama karena persetujuan ini berakhir pada tahun 1999. Selain itu, dalam penelitian ini terdapat beberapa hasil temuan yang tidak menjadi perhatian khusus dari penelitian sebelumnya. Hasil-hasil temuan itu diantaranya proses negosiasi, respon dalam negeri dari kedua negara, serta implementasi dan dampaknya.

This thesis discusses the relationship between Indonesia and Australia on the implementation of the Agreement on Maintaining Security (AMS) in 1995-1999. This research is a research on history of diplomacy that focuses on the field of defense and security, especially regarding the security agreements made by Indonesia and Australia in 1995. The method used in this study is the historical method using written sources. The difference between this research and other similar studies is the scope of the problem which makes the Agreement on Maintaining Security (AMS) the focus of the discussion. The results of this study explain that AMS causes the relation between the two countries reached the closest point compared to the previous periods. However, it turned out that AMS could not last long because this agreement ended in 1999. In addition, in this study there were several findings that were not of particular concern from the previous researches. The findings include the negotiation process, the domestic responses from the two countries, also the implementation and impacts."

"Penelitian ini akan menjelaskan bagaimana peran yang dimiliki oleh Ali Alatas dalam membantu upaya penyelesaian konflik Kamboja kurun waktu 1988-1991. Penulis berargumen sikap optimis dan semangat yang dimiliki Ali Alatas dalam mengarahkan pertemuan untuk mendapat hasil yang diinginkan merupakan salah satu kunci sukses penyelesaian konflik Kamboja. Berbeda dengan kajian-kajian sebelumnya yang pada umumnya membahas peran Indonesia dalam penyelesaian konflik Kamboja secara umum, penelitian ini akan berfokus pada inisiatif dan langkah yang ditempuh oleh Ali Alatas dalam upaya mencari jalan keluar dari permasalahan yang terjadi di Kamboja. Hasil dari penelitian ini menjelaskan bahwa Ali Alatas memiliki peran yang penting dalam mendamaikan pihak-pihak yang bersengketa di Kamboja. Dengan mengangkat tema sejarah diplomasi, data dalam artikel ini diperoleh melalui studi pustaka dan beberapa dokumen sezaman.This research will explain how the role owned by Ali Alatas in helping efforts to resolve the Cambodian conflict in the period 1988-1991. The author argues that the optimistic attitude and enthusiasm of Ali Alatas in directing the meeting to get the desired results is one of the keys to successful resolution of the Cambodian conflict. Different from previous studies which generally discussed the role of Indonesia in resolving the Cambodian conflict in general, this research will focus on the initiatives and steps taken by Ali Alatas in an effort to find a way out of the problems that occur in Cambodia. The results of this study explain that Ali Alatas has an important role in reconciling the disputing parties in Cambodia. With the theme of historical diplomacy, the data in this article was obtained through literature studies and some contemporary documents."
