ABSTRACTThis thesis discusses the behavioral risk factors (smoking, physical activity and
diet) with heart and blood vessel disease (coronary heart disease and stroke) at age
≥40 years in Indonesia in 2013. According to the WHO estimates, 17.5 million
people died in world as cardiovascular disease (7.4 million due to coronary heart
disease and 6.7 million from stroke in 2012). Behavior plays an important role in
influencing the incidence of heart disease and blood vessels. The purpose of this
study was to assess the effects of behavioral risk factors (smoking, physical
activity and diet) and the incidence of heart disease and blood vessels at age ≥40
years. The research is quantitative, with cross sectional study design, using
secondary data Riskesdas 2013. The sample was all individuals aged ≥40 years
who were respondents in Riskesdas 2013. The results showed that smoking
behavior and physical activity linked to heart disease and blood vessels, whereas
an unhealthy diet have a lower risk. Factors that played a major role against
coronary heart disease is smoking (smoking compared with non-smokers, in men
OR: 1,32 and women OR: 1.63). As for stroke, physical activity factors that have
a greater risk for stroke (which behaves less movement compared with sufficient
physical activity, in men OR: 2,01 and women OR: 2.60). Therefore, start a
healthy lifestyle will be very helpful in preventing this disease as well as the three
other diseases.;This thesis discusses the behavioral risk factors (smoking, physical activity and

At the age of 60 years or more (elderly) there is a decrease in body function so that they are prone to various diseases. To avoid this, the elderly always need to maintain their body fitness by doing physical activity and maintaining a healthy diet. Technological developments, especially in the field of information, have made changes to human life, with the emergence of mobile-based applications including health applications. However, the health applications available for the elderly are still considered insufficient. The purpose of this research is to build a mobile application-based elderly health application so that the elderly can still live productively. This research was conducted in 2020 in DKI Jakarta to a group of elderly people aged 60-70 years. The results of the system requirements interview showed that 90% of the elderly need applications that support elderly health. An application that is suitable for the needs of the elderly has been built which includes exercise videos for the elderly, healthy food menus, spiritual shower videos, a health data feature that informs health measurement results and notification of medication reminders. Elderly acceptance of this application is quite good, as many as 80% of the elderly like this application. In accordance with this, the use of this healthy application can be the main choice for the elderly to be able to maintain their health. Suggestions for the Ministry of Health as a policy maker for elderly health, presumably can provide or develop elderly health applications that can be used by the elderly independently."

"Diet quality among elderly could benefit to support healthy ageing, but data on these issues were still limited to be found in Indonesia. This study aimed to analyze the association between diet quality with different domains of healthy aging among elderly in urban area. A cross-sectional study was conducted among 126 elderly aged > 60 years in five community health center across Jakarta province. Diet quality was scored based on Healthy Eating Index (HEI) 2015. Healthy aging domains measured were physical function based on Activity Daily Living (ADL); cognitive function assessed by Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE); psychological health measured by Geriatric Depressive Screening Scale (GDS); and social engagement index. General characteristics of subjects measured using a structured questionnaire to obtained data on age, sex, education, income, smoking status, disease history, and nutritional status based on Mini Nutritional Assessment – Short Form (MNA-SF). Association of diet quality with healthy aging domains was analyzed using linear regression test. The study showed the majority of subjects were early elderly (94.4%), female (57.1%), have high education (49.2%) and income of 2 million rupiahs (45.2%). Diet quality among subjects was poor with mean HEI score 46.1 + 8.5. Prevalence of functional disability (56.3%) and cognitive impairment (46.8%) were high. While the indication of depression was 9.5% and active engagement was 86.5%. There was no significant association found between HEI score with all healthy aging domains. However, improvement in diet quality, functional, and cognitive ability need to be considered. Further investigation using different approach need to be conducted in future studies.
