"Tesis ini membahas bagaimana sekolah dapat menjadi ruang akulturasi budaya sebagai hasil studi terhadap adaptasi antarbudaya yang dilakukan oleh guru yang berasal dari etnik Batak di lingkungan etnik Cina di SMPK 4 BPK Penabur Jakarta. Guru yang berasal dari etnik Batak di sekolah ini menjadi pendatang dan etnik Cina sebagai tuan rumah. Kajian mengenai adaptasi antarbudaya ini merujuk pada model sistem Young Yun Kim yang di elaborasi oleh Ruben, yaitu keterkaitan antara komunikasi personal dan komunikasi sosial yang meliputi komunikasi interpersonal dan komunikasi massa yang tidak terlepas dari lingkungan komunikasi untuk memotret kompetensi komunikasi guru yang berasal dari etnik Batak di lingkungan etnik Cina.Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan model analisis mengalir (flow model of analisis).Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa jika selama ini etnik Batak dikenal dengan karakternya yang keras dan tidak mudah terpengaruh, namun dapat beradaptasi dan mengalami akulturasi budaya yang di dukung oleh adanya potensi akulturasi etnik Batak terhadap etnik Cina, diantaranya adalah kemiripan nilai-nilai budaya dan persamaan agama, serta yang terpenting adalah dukungan dari lingkungan sekolah yang sangat kondusif serta mendukung terjadinya adaptasi antarbudaya, karena bagaimanapun akulturasi tidak akan terjadi tanpa adanya penerimaan dari lingkungan tuan rumah. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukan kompetensi komunikasi masing-masing informan di lingkungan etnik Cina. Yang lebih menarik adalah bahwa mereka telah menyerap nilai dari etnik Batak namun tetap berusaha mempertahankan identitas budaya mereka. Akhirnya penelitian ini memperlihatkan bagaimana sekolah dapat menjadi ruang akulturasi budaya untuk membentuk pribadi antarbudaya.

This thesis discusses about how the school be able to become cultural acculturation places as the result of the study upon the intercultural adaptation conducted by the teachers coming from Bataknese in the environment of Chinese in SMPK 4 BPK Penabur Jakarta. The Bataknese teachers in this school become the comers and the Chinese as the host. The study about this intercultural adaptation relates to Young Yun Kim’s systm model elaborated by Ruben, that is interrelation betwecn personal communication and social communication that covers interpersonal communication and mass communication that are not free from communication environment to draw communication competency of the Bataknese teachers in the environment of Chinese. The approach used in this research in qualitative approach with flow model of analysis.

The result of the research show that for such long time Bataknese known by its hard character and is not easy to the influenced, but they may adapt and experience with cultural acculturation supported by the existence of the Balanese’s acculturation poteney upon the Chinese, among (hem are the similarities of cultural values and religions, and the most importanl is the support from the school environtment of the host. The result of the research also shows the communication competency of each informant in the environment of Chinese. More interesting is that they have absorbed Batknese values but they remain defend their cultural identities. Finally, this research shows how the school are able to become cultural acculturation place to build intercultural personal."

"Kesadaran dan ketidakpuasan atas dominasi pemikiran Barat dalam Ilmu Hubungan Internasional (HI) memicu perumusan kerangka-kerangka berpikir baru non-Barat. Salah satu kerangka teori non-Barat yang banyak diperhatikan adalah teori-teori HI Cina. Diskusi intelektual yang awalnya hanya berpusar di antara para akademisi Cina dan hanya terbatas pada literatur berbahasa Cina mulai terbuka bagi dunia luar. Kajian literatur ini meninjau tiga puluh tujuh literatur berbahasa inggris yang terakreditasi internasional untuk menganalisis perkembangan literatur teori- teori HI Cina. Literatur tersebut akan dikaji berdasarkan metode taksonomi ke dalam tiga tema bahasan yaitu (1) perkembangan ilmu HI di Cina, (2) Konstruksi teori-teori HI Cina, dan (3) penggunaan pemikiran, sejarah dan tradisi Cina kuno dalam teori-teori HI Cina. Tinjauan pustaka ini berusaha untuk menemukan konsensus, perdebatan, dan kesenjangan dalam bahasan tersebut. Tinjauan pustaka ini menunjukkan adanya pergeseran tren persebaran tema literatur kajian teori-teori HI Cina, dari literatur yang membahas teori- teori HI Cina melalui pendekatan historis ke literatur yang membahas penggunaan pemikiran kuno Cina sebagai sumber teoritis dalam berbagai teori HI Cina. Berdasarkan berbagai literatur yang sudah dikaji, kajian literatur ini berpendapat bahwa bahasan terkait teori-teori HI Cina cenderung reaktif terhadap kebijakan pemerintah Cina dan dinamisme posisi Cina dalam dunia internasional.

The awareness and dissatisfaction with the domination of Western thoughts in International Relations (IR) led to the formulation of non-Western frameworks of thoughts. One non-Western theoretical framework that has attracted much attention is Chinese Schools of IR theory. The intellectual discussion about Chinese Schools of IR theory that initially swirled among Chinese academics and was only limited to Chinese literature began to open up to the world. This literature review reviewed thirty seven internationally accredited English literature to analyze the development of Chinese Schools of IR theory. This literature review is divided into three themes based on the taxonomic method, namely (1) the development of IR studies in China, (2) the construction of Chinese IR Theories, and (3) integration of Ancient Chinese thoughts, history, and tradition in Chinese Schools of IR Theory. This literature review seeks to find consensus, debate, and gaps in the discussion of Chinese Schools of IR Theory. This literature review shows that the literature theme trend has shifted, from literature that used historical approach to literature that integrate ancient Chinese philosophy as a theretical source of Chinese Schools of IR Theory. Based on the literatures that has been reviewed, this literature review argues that the discussion of Chinese Schools of IR Theory tends to be reactive to Chinese governement policies and the dynamics of Chinese position in the international level"
