As a part of the urban community in Jakarta, the people who live along the Ciliwung riverbanks still bear stigma as the source of social and environmental problems. To counter this narrative, Ciliwung Rhapsody Initiatives initiated Riverday Sketchwalk 2022 in three different riverbank locations, one of which was Kampung Tongkol, North Jakarta. This event employed urban sketching, a sketch-on-location art method, as a medium for the participants, who were not the residents of Kampung Tongkol, to represent the Ciliwung River through their sketches. Using field observation and interview as an ethnographic method, this research aims to examine Riverday Sketchwalk 2022 as engaged art, an art-based form of activism involving multiple collaborators. Research findings indicate the occurrence of unexpected drawbacks, which led to a lack of community engagement and insufficient space of expression for Kampung Tongkol residents in reshaping the representation of Ciliwung River as their home. However, one specific case shows that engaged art practice using urban sketching as a medium can allow the local community to express themselves when appropriately conducted. This research sheds light on the complexities of engaged art practices. It emphasizes the importance of inclusive and participatory approaches in avoiding unexpected drawbacks to foster meaningful community involvement in reshaping the representation of rural-urban environments."

"The Handbook of Community-Based Participatory Research is an important addition to Oxford University Presss outstanding line of books on public health and related topics because of widespread interest in community-based participatory research. This volume complements and explicates closely related developments such as community-based evaluative research, community-engaged research, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical and Translational Science Awards. The book should be of interest to public health researchers from academic institutions and state and federal agencies, graduate students, and to members of community coalitions, community advisory boards, and non-profit organizations and foundations."

"Achieving College Dreams tells the story of a remarkable partnership between a public research university and charter district to create an exemplar early college high school for low-income and first-generation college youth-launched to make good on the American ideal of providing excellence with equity in secondary education. California College Preparatory Academy is the result of the more than 10-year collaboration between the University of California, Berkeley and Aspire Public Schools. Reflecting a diversity of voices from students to superintendents, this book charts the journey from the decision to open a school to the second class of high school graduates, all of whom were accepted into four-year colleges. It captures struggle, improvement, and possibility as it takes readers inside the workings of the partnership, the development of the school, and spillover of effects across district and university. Confronting the challenge of interweaving rigor and support, the authors explore such critical ingredients as teacher-student advisories; school transition; the home-school divide; a supportive college-preparatory culture; teaching with depth, relational power, and equity; forging an academic identity; and scaling up. At a time of sharply unequal schools and glaring disparities in college readiness, this book uniquely extends the knowledge base about how to better prepare underserved students for college eligibility and success. The book also serves as a clarion call for universities to step up to the plate and partner with districts in achieving transformative secondary school reform benefitting all students."
