"ABSTRAKPenelitian ini membahas ciri-ciri fantastik dalam sebuah teks sastra. Cerita fantastik ditegaskan dengan keraguan yang dialami oleh tokoh dalam cerita dan pembaca cerita. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menunjukkan ciri-ciri fantastik yang terdapat di dalam cerpen ?La Morte? karya Guy de Maupassant dengan menggunakan ancangan struktural dengan teori dari Roland Barthes dan Tzvetan Todorov. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa ciri-ciri fantastik dapat dilihat dari beberapa unsur instrinsik cerpen yaitu, alur cerita yang menampilkan peristiwa natural dan supranatural yang menimbulkan keraguan pada tokoh dan pembaca, tokoh yang mempertanyakan peristiwa aneh, kemunculan tokoh supranatural seperti tengkorak, penggunaan latar ruang dan waktu dalam cerpen yang menunjukkan kesan suram dan terpencil, penggunaan sudut pandang ambigu yang mengungkapkan peristiwa hanya sebatas apa yang diketahui oleh penutur, serta banyaknya diksi dan ungkapan yang menimbulkan kesan fantastik.ABSTRACTThis research discusses the fantastic elements in a literary text. Fantastic story is confirmed by doubts experienced by the characters in the story and the reader. This research aims to demonstrate the fantastic elements contained in the short story "La Morte" by Guy de Maupassant using structural approach with theories of Roland Barthes and Tzvetan Todorov. The analysis showed that the fantastic elements can be seen by the intrinsic substances of the short story, such as the story line featuring the natural and supernatural events that cause doubt on the characters and the reader, character who questioned bizarre events, the appearance of supernatural character like the skull, the space and time background of the story that show the impression of bleak and desolate, the ambiguous point of view that reveals the events are limited only to what is known by the speaker and many dictions that give the fantastic impression."

"ABSTRAKPenelitian ini membahas representasi atau gambaran kepustakawanan yang dikaitkan dengan lima poin hukum kepustawanan dari S.R. Ranganathan dalam film pendek The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore karya William Joyce pada tahun 2012. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi makna kepustakawanan melalui hukum kepustakawanan Ranganathan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini merupakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan semiotik sintagmatik-paradigmatik Roland Barthes melalui analisis alur, tokoh, dan latar. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa hukum kepustakawanan Ranganathan tergambar dalam cerita fantasi ini melalui gambaran kegiatan yang dilakukan tokoh utama dalam film pendek.

ABSTRACTThis study discusses the representation of librarianship that associated with five points of librarianship laws by S.R Ranganathan in The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore short film by William Joyce in 2012. The purpose of this thesis is to identify the meaning of librarianship through Ranganathan librarianship laws. This study is using the qualitative method with Roland Barthes? syntagmatic-paradigmatic semiotic approach to analyzing plot, character, and settings. The result of this thesis shows that Ranganathan librarianship laws are portrayed in this fantasy story through the representation of activities that carried out by the main character in the short film."

"Throughout the years, scholars argue about the fidelity of adaptation works towards the original texts. However, we can see the adaptation works objectively if we see the original texts and the adaptation works autonomously. In this journal article, we can acknowledge how the concept of subversion in Roald Dahl's Fantastic Mr. Fox is represented from novel into film by Wes Anderson. This journal article focuses on textual analysis by using framework from George Bluestone. From the analysis, it is revealed that Dahl's concept of subversion is not drowned out by Anderson instead he deconstructs Dahl's idea of stealing. Hence, we can recognize that two different media have different way in delivering perception to the readers."

"Perilisan Lagu “Plastic Is Fantastic” (2021) karya Oli London, yang berbicara tentang fantasinya tentang operasi plastik, telah mendapat banyak kritik. Salah satu alasannya adalah karena video musiknya dirilis selama Pride Month, bulan ketika komunitas LGBTQ mengadvokasi hak-hak mereka untuk kesetaraan gender, diikuti oleh video dan tweet Oli London yang menyatakan transisi pasca operasinya ke "non-biner" dan "Korean". ”. Untuk menggali lebih dalam pernyataan ini, penelitian ini menggabungkan teori tiga dimensi Fairclough (2003) sebagai kerangka dan analisis semiotik Machin (2010) untuk menganalisis lirik lagu, visual, dan latar belakang sosial budayanya, sehingga berkontribusi pada studi Analisis Wacana Multimodal. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lirik dan visual berhubungan dengan identitas Korea karena penggunaan bahasa Korea dalam lirik dan penampilan serta perilaku androgini pemain di sepanjang video. Praktik-praktik ini menimbulkan masalah, terutama ketika aktivitas media sosial terkait operasi plastiknya dihebohkan oleh media massa karena ia secara konsisten menyamakan dan mengeksploitasi status transnya dengan kelompok minoritas lain, seperti orang Korea, LGBTQ, dan kelompok transrasial. Dengan demikian, subversi gender dan identitas hadir sejak produksi identitasnya dikomodifikasi.

The release of Oli London's Plastic Is Fantastic (2021), which talks about his fantasy of plastic surgery, has been met with considerable criticism. One of the reasons is that his music video was released during Pride Month, a month when the LGBTQ community advocates for their rights for gender equality, followed by other videos and tweets declaring his post-surgery transition to "non-binary" and “Korean”. To dig deeper into this assertion, this study combines Fairclough's (2003) three-dimensional theory as the framework and Machin's (2010) semiotic analysis to examine the song lyrics, visuals, and its socio-cultural background, thereby contributing to the Multimodal Discourse Analysis studies. This study intends to investigate the construction of gender and identity in Plastic Is Fantastic, the underlying power systems present, and how the power systems subvert gender and Korean identity. Research shows that the lyrics and visuals are connected with Korean identity due to the usage of Korean in the lyrics and the performer's androgynous appearance and behavior throughout the video. These practices produced problems, especially when his plastic surgery-related social media activity was stirred up by mass media as he consistently equates and exploits his trans status with other minority groups, such as Koreans, LGBTQ, and transracial people. Thus, the subversion of gender and identity is present since the identity production is being commodified."

"Kelima novel sejarah Indonesia yang dipilih sebagai objek penelitian ini memperlihatkan keragaman konvensi, bentuk, dan warna. Ada yang menggunakan tokoh-tokoh sejarah sebagai tokoh utama, dan tokoh fi ktif sebagai pelengkap, ada yang sebaliknya menggunakan tokoh sejarah sebagai tokoh bawahan, ada yang sebagian besar tokohnya adalah tokoh sejarah. Katrologi Bumi Manusia memperlihatkan warna realis yang kuat dan bentuk yang rumit; begitu pula Arok Dedes yang ideologis. Subang Zamrud Nurhayati memperlihatkan erotisme dan alur yang sederhana, sementara Roro Mendut menekankan masalah psikologis, dan Perlawanan Rakyat Sigi yang pendek berwarna heroik, memang tepat untuk anakanak. Dua dari keempat pengarang novel sejarah yang dibahas sudah tiada, dua yang lain berusia lanjut. Mereka semua memperoleh pendidikan yang relatif baik, khususnya dalam hal sejarah. Keempatnya sangat prihatin terhadap keadaan bangsa dan negaranya, dan sebagian besar telah secara aktif mendukung mereka yang tertindas.

The fi ve Indonesian historical novels being the object of this research, reveal the western convention of the genre in a variety of forms and colours. Pramoedya?s and Mansur Samin?s use both ?real? historical person as heroes and secondary character, while the others present imaginative characters as heros and historical persons as background. Pram?s Bumi Manusia, consisting of four books, shows the most complicated form and tends to be realistic in its narration. Arok Dedes, as complicated as the fi rst, is an ideological one. While Roro Mendut, in a very loose plot preoccupies with the psychological problem of the principal characters, and Subang Zamrud Nurhayati is erotic. The thinnest of the fi ve, Perlawanan Rakyat Sigi is heroic. About the writers: two of them are dead, the rest is above sixty years old. The interview shows that they love history and have received good education, especially in history stuff. They are preoccupied by the poor condition of the Indonesian people and the nation, and most of them supported actively the struggle of the oppressed."
