"The intent of this paper is to search for the significant landscape design elements of classical Roman Villa Suburbana appeared at the beginning of the first century A.D. Pliny the Younger was one of Roman statesman who was famous with his publications of nine books of literary letters. Among his letter were detail descriptions of the Laurentine Villa and the Tuscan Villa. These two villas are one of the oldest sources of information to study the evolvement and give influence to the history of garden design. This paper begins with the discussion of who is Pliny and how his letters are so important to the history of garden design. Then, it will continue with interpreting Pliny's letters for the Laurentine Villa and the Tuscan Villas, learning how the landscape context, the villas, the relationships between the villa and the garden, and the significant elements of the gardens are organized."

"ABSTRAKFenomena ketertarikan manusia terhadap makhluk hidup lain dan alammenjadi prinsip dasar desain yang lebih natural populer disebut dengan desainbiofilik. Salah satu jenis properti yang diklaim merupakan desain biofilik olehpengembang adalah condovilla. Condovilla adalah hunian bertingkat rendahdengan kombinasi antara kemewahan kondominium dan keasrian lingkungansebuah villa. Penelitian ini: 1) Mengevaluasi apakah condovilla termasuk kedalam kategori desain biofilik; 2) Mencari tahu seberapa besar pengaruhkecenderungan pribadi untuk dekat dengan alam (biofilia) mempengaruhikeputusan pembelian condovilla; 3) Mengevaluasi peran biofilia di antara faktorfaktorpenentu keputusan pembelian properti hunian, 4) Melihat keterkaitanbiofilia dengan pembelian unit condovilla, dan 5) Membandingkan margin antaracondovilla dan apartemen konvensional. Menggunakan metode campuran denganstrategi eksplanatoris sekuensial, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa: 1) Condovillaadalah salah satu properti yang menerapkan beberapa kategori desain biofilik; 2)Tingkat biofilia seseorang berpengaruh dalam keputusan pembelian dan; 3)Biofilia merupakan faktor pendukung yang mempengaruhi keputusan pembeliancondovilla karena ada faktor lainnya seperti harga, lokasi dan fisik bangunan; 4)Adanya keterkaitan biofilia dengan pemilihan unit dan harga unit; dan 5) Adanyaharga premium untuk konsumen yang ingin mendapatkan fasilitas ruang terbukahijau.

ABSTRACTThe phenomenon of human interest towards other living organism andnature becomes the basic principles of more natural design popularly known asbiophilic design. One of the property types claimed as biophilic design by thedeveloper is condovilla. Condovilla is a low-rise residential that combines theluxury of a condo and the beauty of the environment of a villa. This study aimedat: 1) Evaluating whether condovilla falls into the category biophilic design; 2)Seeking on how much is personal tendency to be close to nature (biophilia)influences the buying decisions for a condovilla; 3) Evaluating the position ofbiophilia factor among the other factors of decisions on purchasing residentialproperty; 4) Looking at the linkages of biophilia with the purchase of condovillaunits; and 5) Comparing the margins between condovilla and conventionalapartments. Using mixed method with sequential explanatory strategy, theresearch found that: 1) Condovilla is one of the residential properties applyingsome biophilic design patterns; 2) The level of biophilia does influence thepurchasing decision; 3) Biophilia is a supporting factor affecting condovillapurchasing decisions because there are other factors such as price, location andphysical building; 4) There is relation between biophilia with unit selection andunit price; and 5) There is premium price for consumers who want to get greenopen space facility."

"Dalam proses merancang, peran kolase sebagai wadah representasi visual dapat menjadikan kolase sebagai salah satu metode yang potensial untuk merepresentasikan ide seorang arsitek. Kolase dapat digunakan untuk mengkomunikasikan ide dalam bentuk visual dengan cara menggabungkan fragmen-fragmen desain (Socio, 2006) untuk menghasilkan makna baru. Peran kolase dalam merepresentasikan makna sebuah objek kedalam sebuah ruang (Socio, 2006), dapat memudahkan arsitek dalam menginisiasi dan memperkirakan penciptaan sebuah ruang arsitektur (Socio, 2006; Martin, 2007). Oleh karena itu, kolase dapat menjadi salah satu metode yang digunakan dalam perancangan arsitektur yang menghasilkan makna. Makna dalam perancangan memiliki potensi untuk mempertahankan nilai sebuah bangunan. Dengan adanya makna dalam rancangan, sebuah bangunan dapat mempertahankan eksistensinya, agar fungsi bangunan tersebut tidak hilang dimakan zaman, dapat dijadikan sebagai objek pembelajaran karya arsitektur, serta dapat berkembang menjadi bangunan cagar budaya (Nursanty & Suhalyani, n.d). Namun, kolase belum banyak digunakan sebagai metode yang dianggap potensial untuk mengkomunikasikan ide dalam proses perancangan arsitektur. Sehingga dalam skripsi ini, penulis bertujuan melihat potensi kolase sebagai metode yang digunakan pada proses merancang dan kemudian dibuktikan dengan mempelajari bangunan cagar budaya Villa Isola. Dalam proses perancangan Villa Isola, terdapat penggunaan teknik penyusunan dengan teknik kolase sehingga bangunan tersebut hingga saat ini memiliki makna yang masih berlanjut.......In the process of designing, the role of collage as a visual representation can make the collage method as one of the potential methods to represent the idea of an architect. Collages can be used to communicate ideas in visual form by combining fragments of design (Socio, 2006) to produce new meanings. The role of collage in representing the meaning of an object into space (Socio, 2006), can facilitate the architect in initiating and estimating the creation of architectural space (Socio, 2006; Martin, 2007). Therefore, collage can be one method that can be used in architectural design that produces meaning. The meaning in design has the potential to maintain the value of a building. With the existence of meaning in the design, a building can maintain the existence of the building, so that the functions of the building are not lost to the times, can be used as objects of learning architectural works, and can develop into cultural heritage buildings (Nursanty & Suhalyani, n.d). However, collage has not been widely used as a method that is considered a potential to communicate ideas in the architectural designing process. So in this thesis, the author aims to see the potential of collage as a method used in the design process and then proven by studying the heritage building, Villa Isola. In the designing process of Villa Isola, there is the use of assembling collage techniques, so that the building has a continuing meaning untill now.

"Penelitian ini membahas mengenai perkembangan Bangunan Pendopo dari bangunan Villa Maria menjadi Kantor Pusat PT KAI. Pada Bangunan Pendopo hingga saat ini masih dipergunakan sebagai kantor administrasi perkeretaapian dan telah mengalami adaptasi setelah ditetapkan menjadi cagar budaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perubahan-perubahan yang terjadi dalam adaptasi Bangunan Pendopo Kantor Pusat PT KAI serta menganalisis kesesuaian penerapan adaptasi yang sudah dilakukan dengan prinsip dan regulasi hukum yang berlaku. Metode yang digunakan yaitu analisis deskriptif dimulai dari pengumpulan data, pengolahan data, interpretasi, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil analisis didapatkan bahwa adaptasi mempengaruhi adanya perubahan fungsi ruang pada Bangunan Pendopo dan terdapat 3 bentuk adaptasi yang dilakukan, yaitu adaptasi dalam perubahan material, adaptasi dalam penambahan, dan adaptasi dalam pengurangan. Adaptasi dalam bentuk perubahan material dan penambahan pada Bangunan Pendopo telah sesuai dengan prinsip-prinsip adaptasi. Sedangkan bentuk pengurangan mengakibatkan merosotnya nilai penting yang terkandung dalam bangunan.......This paper discusses about the transformations of the Pendopo Building from Villa Maria building into the Central Office of PT KAI. The Pendopo building is still used as a railway administration office and has undergone adaptations after being a cultural heritage. This study aims to determine the changes that have occurred in the adaptation of the Pendopo building and to analyze whether the implementation of the adaptation that has been carried out in the cultural heritage building is in accordance with the adaptation principles and legal regulations. The method used is descriptive analysis starting from data collection, data analysis, interpretations, and conclusions. The results of the analysis found that adaptation affects changes in the function of space in the Pendopo Building and there were 3 forms of adaptation carried out in the Pendopo buildings, that is adaptation in material changes, adaptation in additions, and adaptation in reductions. Adaptation in the form of material changes and additions to the Pendopo building is in accordance with the adaptation principles. While the form of reduction results in a decline in the important value contained in the building."
