本論文は、外国人学生(日本人)にミャンマー語を指導する中で得られた知見について、大きく3部に分けて述べたものである。各部の主な内容は、(1)文学、言語と文化に関する書籍の選定状況の報告、(2)教育現場で用いる各種手法の紹介、(3)教育実践を通して得られた知見と課題の報告である。第1部では、書籍の選定について述べる。直接教授法で指導を行っている1年生と2年生のクラスに向けた書籍のことを述べた後、専門科目を学ぶ3年生と4年生向けの書籍を挙げる。第2部では、教育手法について述べている。(1)クラス内で教師が先導役となって議論を進める手法、(2)学生の自主的学習を促す手法、(3)協働学習によって課題を考察し、解決していく手法、(4)学生に積極的に話させる手法、(5)ミャンマー語における文語体と口語体を合わせて教える手法という5種類の教育手法を示している。第3部では、教育実践を通して得られた知見と教育上の課題について述べる。指導する上で最も必要なこととして、言語を学ぶことに楽しさを感じさせることがあり、その意義について述べる。次に、言語を教える上での課題や問題なども示す。上述の外国人の為の外国語学習および教育を通して得られた知見とは、1年生、2年生、3年生、4年生、修士をはじめとしたクラスの実情に基づいたものであり、本論文の趣旨は、そのことに考察を加え、報告することにある...
