"Cara pelancong masa kini bepergian serta kegiatan-kegiatan pariwisata yang mereka minati telah banyak berubah. Mereka tidak lagi puas dengan kegiatan-kegiatan pariwisata konvensional seperti 4s (sun, sea, sand, and sex), bahkan bersedia mengeluarkan uang lebih untuk terlibat dalam kegiatan yang memungkinkan mereka untuk mendapatkan pengalaman yang hanya dapat mereka alami di destinasi tersebut. Kecenderungan ini kemudian dengan istilah experiental travel. Seiring dengan bertambahnya peminat experiental tourism, penduduk lokal seolah ditantang untuk memenuhi permintaan para pelancong akan sebuah pengalaman yang khas dari daerah mereka. Airbnb Experiences kemudian muncul dan menjadi pihak yang memfasilitasi bertemunya pelancong yang mencari kegiatan experiental dengan penduduk lokal yang menawarkan pengalaman-pengalaman tersebut. Dalam tulisan ini, saya akan membahas bagaimana host dalam dua kegiatan Airbnb Experiences di Bali merencanakan dan menjalankan kegiatan yang mereka tawarkan sehingga pelancong bisa mendapatkan pengalaman sesuai dengan yang telah mereka antisipasi.

How people travel and what kind of activities they engage while on holiday have vastly changed over the year. They are no lnger satisfied with the conventional tourism activities like the 4s ( sun, sea, sand,and sex) anymore and even willing to pay a sum of money to be able to partake in an activity that allows them to get an experience they could only get in those said places. This spurt of interest in what we will call as experiental travel then affects the local comunities as well. They are expected to provide experiences that those tourist like so much, activities that make their culture, tradition, and the place in general stands out to the tourist. Airbnb then comes out with Airbnb Experiences,a feature that allows guest that wanted to take part in experiental activities met with locals who are willing to provide varieties of experience they can choose from. I will talk about how the local people, the host, of two Airbnb Experiences in Bali produce and perform their activity so that they can provide the guest with an experience that they anticipated when booking the activity."

"Pandemi COVID-19 yang terjadi pada tahun 2020 membawa dampak buruk terhadap berbagai industri dan sektor bisnis, tidak terkecuali industri sharing economy. Brian Chesky, CEO dari Airbnb, menyatakan bahwa bisnis yang telah dibangun selama bertahun-tahun kehilangan 80% dari bisnis mereka hanya dalam waktu delapan minggu akibat pandemi. Namun, pandemi ini justru membuka peluang baru bagi platform Airbnb untuk berkembang, menjadi salah satu perusahaan yang berhasil pulih dengan luar biasa dari krisis pandemi. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari gross booking value Airbnb pada tahun 2021 yang melebihi tahun 2019 dan berhasil mencetak gross booking value terbesarnya pada tahun 2022 yaitu sebesar 63.2 miliar USD. Salah satu kunci pemulihan luar biasa Airbnb dari krisis pandemi adalah dengan kembali memfokuskan pada bisnis utama mereka dan mengutamakan kebutuhan pelanggan. Salah satu aspek penting dari bisnis platform digital seperti Airbnb adalah continuance intention. Berbagai penelitian telah dilakukan untuk mencari tahu faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi continuance intention pada platform Airbnb. Pada penelitian terdahulu, ditemukan bahwa perceived usefulness dan trust adalah prediktor kuat dari continuance intention pada platform Airbnb. Dalam penelitian ini, tim penulis menerapkan pendekatan elaboration likelihood model yang mencakup central route dan peripheral route untuk mengeksplorasi faktor-faktor yang berpengaruh terhadap continuance intention pada platform Airbnb. Penelitian ini mengumpulkan data kuantitatif melalui kuesioner yang diisi oleh 514 responden dan data kualitatif melalui wawancara dengan 11 narasumber. Pengolahan data kuantitatif menggunakan metode partial least square structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM), sedangkan pengolahan data kualitatif menggunakan metode content analysis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa baik central route maupun peripheral route mempengaruhi continuance intention. Namun, central route dianggap memiliki pengaruh yang lebih signifikan terhadap continuance intention. Implikasi dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa platform Airbnb dapat memprioritaskan pengembangan fitur, strategi pemasaran, dan manajemen hubungan pelanggan sesuai yang sesuai dengan variabel-variabel central route.

The 2020 COVID-19 pandemic severely damaged a number of businesses and industries, including the sharing economy. According to Brian Chesky, CEO of Airbnb, the pandemic caused the company, which they had spent years building, to lose 80% of its business in just eight weeks. Nevertheless, the pandemic also created fresh chances for Airbnb to expand, making it one of the businesses that bounced back from the crisis rather admirably. Airbnb demonstrated this by surpassing the gross booking value of 2019 in 2021 and reaching its greatest gross booking value of $63.2 billion USD in 2022. Refocusing on their core business and putting the needs of their customers first was one of the keys to Airbnb's amazing return from the pandemic issue. For online platforms such as Airbnb, continuance intention is a crucial component of their business. The variables influencing continuance intention on the Airbnb platform have been the subject of numerous studies. Perceived usefulness and trust are powerful indicators of continuing intention on Airbnb, according to prior research. The research team used the elaboration likelihood model approach in this study to investigate the elements influencing continuance intention on the Airbnb platform. This approach comprises both central route and peripheral route. A questionnaire completed by 514 respondents provided quantitative data for this study, while 11 sources were interviewed to obtain qualitative data. The partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) approach was used to process quantitative data, and content analysis was used to evaluate qualitative data. According to the findings, continuance intention is influenced by both the central and peripheral routes. "Di Indonesia, popularitas Airbnb telah turut mempengaruhi performa industri perhotelan konvensional secara signifikan. Salah satu konsep yang ditawarkan Airbnb adalah konsep mengenai authenticity, akan tetapi masih sedikit literatur pariwisata yang mengulas mengenai komponen apa yang merupakan bagian dari pengalaman authentic consumption dalam industri penginapan dan bagaimana dampaknya terhadap brand loyalty. Penelitian ini mengidentifikasi dua jalur berbeda yang dilalui dalam pengalaman authentic consumption menuju brand loyalty, dan bagaimana perusahaan hotel konvensional dan Airbnb memanfaatkan jalur ini secara berbeda untuk mendapatkan loyalitas pelanggan yang lebih baik. Survei terhadap 900 responden dilakukan melalui kuesioner daring, dan data dianalisis menggunakan Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa brand authenticity mempengaruhi brand love dan brand loyalty, sementara existential authenticity dan intrapersonal authenticity memiliki pengaruh pada memorability, well-being, dan selanjutnya terhadap brand loyalty pada perusahaan penginapan baik hotel maupun Airbnb. Penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan keefektifan pathway menuju brand loyalty, dimana brand pathway akan lebih efektif bagi perusahaan penginapan hotel, sementara experience pathway akan lebih efektif bagi perusahaan penginapan Airbnb.

The popularity of Airbnb in Indonesia has significantly influenced the performance of the conventional hotel industry. One of the concepts offered and highlighted by Airbnb is the concept of authenticity, meanwhile not many literature reviews what components are part of the authentic consumption experience in the lodging industry and how it impacts on brand loyalty. This research aims to identify two different pathways through which authentic consumption experience influence brand loyalty, and how conventional hotel companies and Airbnb use this path differently to get higher customer loyalty. A survey of 900 respondents was conducted through an online questionnaire, and data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results showed that brand authenticity influence brand love and brand loyalty, while existential authenticity and intrapersonal authenticity influence memorabiliy and well- being; and subsequently to brand loyalty in both hotel companies and Airbnb. This study also aims to identify the difference in effectiveness of the pathway to brand loyalty, where the brand pathway will be more effective for hotel companies, and the experience pathway will be more effective for Airbnb.

Pariwisata di Indonesia tidak dapat dilepaskan dari upaya promosi dan peningkatan pembentukan citra positif. Pariwisata tidak lagi menjadi pengalaman yang otentik melainkan sebuah konstruksi situasi yang diharapkan oleh penciptanya dirasakan sebagai pengalaman menarik bagi wisatawan.
Salah satu peningkatan upaya promosi pariwisata melalui pembuatan strategi pencitraan. Mengadopsi konsep simulasi sebagai salah satu bentuk perwujudan Pariwisata Indonesia yang oleh creator pencitraan ingin ditanamkan kedalam benak calon wisatawan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana strategi pencitraan yang dilakukan Kementerian Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif. Dengan kerangka berpikir Jean Baudrillard mengenai pencitraan. Proses pencitraan disandingkan dengan kenyataan dilapangan sehingga dapat memaparkan jurang antara pencitraan dengan kenyataan di lapangan.
Melalui metode penelitian kualitatif yang mengambil lokasi di Jakarta, data-data dikumpulkan melalui teknik depth interview, observation dan didukung analisa semiotika pada iklan pariwisata. Dengan teori postmodern dari Jean Baudrillard mengenai pencitraan dan simulasi mewarnai penelitian yang dilakukan pada kesempatan kali ini.

Tourism has become part of the postmodern culture related with lifestyle and social class. Tourism encourage economic movement with fulfillment of consumer society life style. Indonesia tourism can not be separated from promotion efforts to increase positive image. Tourism then no longer be an authentic experience but a result of new reality construction that is expected by the creator can be perceived as an interesting experience for tourists.
One way among a lot more ways to increase tourism promotion is through the branding strategies. Simulation concept then adopted as a form of manifestation of Indonesia Tourism. This study aims to determine how is tourism branding strategy concept created by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Republic of Indonesia. Jean Baudrillard framework of thinking are used with regards on how the image is form that could be implement. The image then parallel with the reality so it can describe the gap between image and reality.
Through qualitative research methods which took place in Jakarta, the data collected through depth interview techniques, observation and supported with semiotics analysis of Indonesia tourism advertising. Jean Baudrillard's postmodern theory and the simulation then could enhance the research of branding strategy.
