Abstrak :

Tesis ini membahas proses pembentukan ruang dalam keseharian dengan menggunakan kacamata narasi dalam arsitektur. Narasi dalam keseharian disebut sebagai spatial trajectories. Hasil penelusuran menyarankan bahwa yang perlu dilihat dalam proses pembentukan ruang adalah bridge yang terbentuk oleh spatial trajectories. Semakin banyak bridge yang hadir berarti spatial trajectories yang terlibat semakin banyak. Sehingga yang perlu diperhatikan adalah persinggungan antar spatial trajectories yang terjadi dalam ruang tersebut karena hal tersebut mengindikasikan berbagai macam narasi yang terlibat.

Tesis ini juga menelusuri berbagai macam bentuk narasi dan bagaimana cara membongkar narasi tersebut, seperti narasi tertulis dan narasi film. Teknik-teknik seperti diagram, collage, kamera, dan separatrix banyak dibahas sebagai intrumen penelusuran dalam tesis ini.

Tesis ini mendemonstrasikan strategi perancangan berbasis spatial trajectories. Untuk dapat merepresentasikan spatial trajectories diperlukan sebuah teknik representasi yang dapat mewakili ketepatan data empiris sebuah narasi yang dalam hal ini bisa dengan menggunakan teknik proyeksi, namun tetap dapat memunculkan imajinasi keseharian yang lebih abstrak dengan menggunakan teknik scenography yang dapat merepresentasikan sebuah performance.

Melalui penggunaan spatial trajectories sebagai pendekatan dalam perancangan, arsitektur yang hadir merupakan arsitektur yang ingin menyampaikan cerita mengenai ruang-ruang keseharian dalam sebuah konteks. Tesis ini berusaha untuk membuka peluang-peluang spasial dengan memanfaatkan teknik-teknik representasi untuk dapat memunculkan makna-makna dalam ruang-ruang keseharian kita.

This thesis discusses the production of space inside everyday using the narrative lens in architecture. The narrative in everyday is referred to as spatial trajectories. The inquiry results suggest that what is important in the production of space process is the bridge formed by the spatial trajectories. The more bridges that are present means, the more spatial trajectories are involved. It becomes important to consider the overlapping between spatial trajectories that occur in that space because it indicates various kinds of narratives involved.

This thesis also explores various forms of narrative and how to dismantle these narratives. Techniques such as a diagram, collage, camera, and separatrix are widely discussed as instruments of inquiry in this thesis.

This thesis demonstrates a spatial trajectories-based design strategy. To be able to represent spatial trajectories, a representation technique should represent the accuracy of empirical data in a narrative in the way of projection technique, but the representation should also bring up more abstract of everyday imagination in a way scenography technique to represent the performance

Through the use of spatial trajectories as an approach in design, the architecture that is present is an architecture that wants to convey stories about everyday spaces in a context. This thesis seeks to open up spatial opportunities by utilizing representational techniques to be able to give meaning in our everyday spaces.

Drawing on interdisciplinary work in the field of ethics and literature by a diverse range of thinkers, including Martha Nussbaum, Emmanuel Levinas and Paul Ricoeur, Jil Larson offers new readings of late Victorian and turn-of-the-century British fiction, she shows how ethical concepts can transform our understanding of narratives, just as narratives make possible a valuable, contextualised moral deliberation. Focusing on novels by Thomas Hardy, Sarah Grand, Olive Schreiner, Oscar Wilde, and Henry James, Larson explores the conjunction of ethics and fin-de-siècle history and culture through a consideration of what narratives from this period tell us about emotion, reason, and gender, aestheticism, and such speech acts as promising and lying. This book will be of interest to scholars of nineteenth century and modernism, and all interested in the conjunction between narrative, ethics and literary theory.

Abstrak :
Drawing upon innovative theoretical and empirical scholarship presented at Narrative Matters 2012: Life and Narrative (The American University of Paris, May 29-June 1, 2012), this volume seeks to make a significant contribution to our understanding of the dynamic interplay of life and narrative by creatively addressing it from multiple angles. It features cross-disciplinary work by cutting-edge scholars in the social sciences and the humanities, including Jens Brockmeier, Jerome Bruner, Mark Freeman, Alexandra Georgakopoulou, James Phelan, and Brian Richardson. Four main intellectual contributions distinguish this volume. First, the contributors clearly detail the conceptual and empirical frameworks for describing the mutual construction of narrative and life. Second, the volume illustrates the tension between the need for narratives to hold and represent factual experiences and the power of narrative to conjure coherent worlds of imagination. Third, the volume explores the tension between the power of social and cultural forces to influence, or even impose, pre-configured interpretations on experience and the ingenuity of persons to create their own interpretations of experience. Finally, the problem of life and narrative is conceived as a cross-disciplinary problem.Cross-disciplinary study is crucial for thinking through basic problems in the social sciences and the humanities. There is still little dialogue among the disciplinary groups studying narrative, but these are conversations without boundaries, and limiting the scope leaves out critical perspectives that can advance knowledge of narrative, literature, and human beings. This volume aims to introduce a wide range of narrative scholars to the broader questions that narrative studies entails.

Penelitian ini membahas argumen dalam narasi yang terdapat pada tulisan Samuel Mulia di rubrik Parodi Kompas Minggu pada tahun 2010. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semua elemen narasi terdapat pada tulisan Samuel Mulia yaitu abstraksi, orientasi (tokoh, situasi, dan waktu), komplikasi, evaluasi, hasil, dan koda. Elemen-elemen narasi tersebut sebagian besar dibangun oleh hubungan antarproposisi logis, yaitu hubungan alasan-HASIL; hubungan syarat- KONSEKUENSI; hubungan sarana-TUJUAN; hubungan konsesi-LAWAN HARAPAN, dan hubungan dasar-KESIMPULAN. Hubungan-hubungan tersebut merupakan hubungan logis yang menunjukkan adanya argumen yang hendak disampaikan pada narasi dalam tulisan Samuel Mulia tersebut. Selain hubungan logis tersebut, sebagian elemen narasi dibangun oleh hubungan antarproposisi orientasi dan penjelasan, yaitu hubungan keadaan-INDUK; hubungan INDUKamplifikasi; hubungan ilustrasi-INDUK; dan hubungan GENERIK-spesifik. Elemen narasi yang mengandung argumen adalah evaluasi, orientasi, dan komplikasi. Oleh sebab itu, narasi tidak hanya menceritakan peristiwa saja, tetapi juga menyampaikan sesuatu.

Abstract
This research discusses argument in narrative texts, which is Samuel Mulia's article in rubric Parody of Kompas Minggu 2010. The result of this research shows that narrative elements found in Samuel Mulia works are abstraction, orientation (actor, time, and situation), evaluation, complication, result, and coda. Most parts of those narrative elements are constructed by logic interproposition relations, which are reason-RESULT relation; condition-CONSEQUENCE relation; means-PURPOSE relation; consession-CONTRAEXPECTATION; and ground-CONCLUSION. Those relations are logic relations which show arguments that the writer wants to convey in the text. While the other parts of the narrative elements are constructed by support relation and orientation relation, which are circumstance-HEAD relation; HEAD-amplification relation; illustration-HEAD relation; and GENERIC-specific relation. Narrative elements which contain argument are evaluation, orientation, and complication. Therefore, the narrative texts not only tell about events but also convey arguments.

Penelitian ini berjudul Citra Tokoh Utama dalam Novel Pinesthi karya R. Ngt. Suisdiyati Sarmo yang membahas tokoh utama cerita dan menganalisis struktur cerita rekaan dalam novel Pinesthi karya R. Ngt. Suisdiyati Sarmo. Novel Jawa ini diterbitkan oleh Azzagrafika pada tahun 2013. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana struktur cerita Pinesthi yang meliputi alur, tokoh dan penokohan, latar, dan tema serta untuk mengetahui citra tokoh utama yang terdapat di dalam novel Pinesthi karya R. Ngt. Suisdiyati Sarmo. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif analitis. Buku yang menjadi acuan dalam menganalisis struktur cerita ini adalah buku Memahami Cerita Rekaan karangan Panuti Sudjiman. Hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa tokoh utama, yaitu Tanti Anggraeni berperan sebagai wanita Jawa yang modern yang mempunyai karakter-karekter yang sesuai dengan wanita modern yang dikemukakan oleh Prapti Rahayu dalam bukunya Wanita dalam Sastra Jawa Modern 1945-1965.

ABSTRACT
The Chapter of this research is The Image of the main character in the Novel Pinesthi created by R. Ngt. Suisdiyati Sarmo. This research describes the image of the main character and to analyze the narrative structure in the novel of Pinesthi created by R. Ngt. Suisdiyati Sarmo. This Novel is published on 2013 by Azzagrafika.This research purpose to knows how the narrative structure of Pinesthi is that include the plots, characterizations, backgrounds, and themes to find out the image of the main character in the novel of Pinesthi created by R.Ngt. Suisdiyati Sarmo. The research used analysis description. To analyze this research, I used the book of lsquo Memahami Cerita Rekaan rsquo which created by Panuti Sudjiman. The result of this research is, that the main character of this novel was Tanti Anggraeni who acted as modern Javanese woman who have characters that correspond to the modern Javanese woman, raised by Prapti Rahayu in the book of lsquo Wanita dalam Sastra Jawa Modern 1945 1965 rsquo.

Skripsi ini membahas fenomena spatiality dalam scenography sebuah pertunjukan yang dapat dimanfaatkan dalam mengadaptasi narasi. Spatiality memberikan penekanan terhadap peristiwa penting pada cerita, sehingga dapat menciptakan koneksi antara penampil dengan penonton, serta dapat dijadikan alat untuk menyampaikan interioritas narasi. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana spatiality dalam scenography, yaitu arsitektur dari ruang pertunjukan, dapat digunakan dalam mengadaptasi narasi berbentuk teks menjadi pertunjukan. Dilakukan studi kasus terhadap dua pertunjukan yang diadaptasi dari novel dengan teknik berbeda, yaitu close adaptation, ketika elemen-elemen narasi sebisa mungkin dipertahankan dalam pertunjukan, dan intermediate adaptation, ketika elemen-elemen narasi ada yang dihilangkan atau ditambahkan pada pertunjukan. Apabila pertunjukan mempertahankan banyak elemen narasi dari teks sumber ke dalam skrip, fenomena spatiality dapat digunakan untuk menambah dramatisasi pada beberapa adegan penting. Sedangkan, apabila pertunjukan mereduksi atau mengubah lebih banyak elemen narasi, fenomena spatiality dapat diperbanyak untuk membantu menyampaikan interioritas narasi. Selain itu, organisasi ruang pertunjukan juga berpengaruh terhadap derajat intensitas spatiality yang terjadi. Dengan menggunakan ruang penonton sebagai ruang presentasi, kemungkinan terjadinya spatiality akan meningkat. Arsitektur dari ruang pertunjukan yang terbentuk dari elemen-elemen spasial dan fenomena spatiality yang terjadi dapat dialami dan dimaknai. Kemudian, pemahaman kolektif akan interioritas yang dipertahankan dari narasi teks sumber ke narasi pertunjukan dapat tercipta.

This paper discusses how the phenomenon of spatiality in a performances scenography can be used in adapting narrative. Spatiality emphasizes the key events in the story so that it will be able to create connections between performers and audience. Moreover, it could be used as a tool to convey the interiority of a narrative. This paper aims to explore how spatiality in scenography-the architecture of performance space is used in adapting a text-based narrative into performance. Studies are conducted towards two performances adapted from novels with different techniques: close adaptation, where the narrative elements are kept in the performance; and intermediate adaptation, in which some narrative elements are eliminated, and another added to the performance according to the adaptors intentions. If a performance maintains most of the narrative elements from the text in the script, the spatiality phenomena could be used to dramatize essential scenes. If a performance reduces or changes more narrative elements, more spatiality phenomenon may help to convey the narrative. Furthermore, the organization of performance space plays a part in the spatialitys degree of intensity. Usage of the audience space as presentational space will increase the possibility of spatiality. The architecture of performance space formed from spatial elements and the spatiality can be experienced and interpreted. There will be a collective understanding of the interiority that is maintained from the narrative text source to the performance.

Penelitian ini membahas tentang pemaknaan pengguna media sosial saat menyaksikan iklan naratif secara vertikal. Studi ini bertujuan untuk memahami pengalaman pengguna yang memiliki latar belakang pada bidang periklanan dan kreatif dalam memahami pesan Film X & Y di TikTok. Film pendek vertikal tersebut menjadi pengalaman baru dan unik karena pada awalnya pengguna terbiasa menyaksikan video narasi melalui format horizontal. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan wawancara mendalam kepada empat orang informan yang berusia 20-23 tahun. Studi ini menemukan bahwa pengguna dapat mengelaborasi iklan naratif dari pesan implisit, orientasi gambar sinematik, kualitas akting, latar musik, serta potensi film vertikal di masa depan. Studi selanjutnya dapat menjelaskan pengguna media sosial yang mempunyai beragam latar belakang, minat, dan rentang umur untuk melihat pemaknaan khalayak terhadap iklan naratif vertikal lebih luas. ...... This research examines social media users’ understanding of watching vertical narrative advertising. The study aims to acknowledge users’ experience who have advertising and creative background in understanding messages of Film X & Y on TikTok. The vertical short film encouraged new and unique experiences in terms of users’ habit of watching narrative video in horizontal format. This study uses a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews with four participants aged 20-23 years old. The research shows that social media users can elaborate on vertical narrative advertising based on its implicit message cognitively, cinematic orientation, acting performance, soundtrack, and the future of vertical web series. Future research could explain social media users’ who have various background, interest, and age range to examine the audiences broaden understanding of watching vertical narrative advertising.
