"Tesis ini berusaha membongkar terjadinya dominasi Amerika dalam film Spanglish. Film yang bercerita tentang imigran Meksiko yang bekerja menjadi pembantu rumah tangga di rumah keluarga Amerika ini dianalisis secara semiotika Barthes yang menekankan kepada terjadinya ketimpangan identitas budaya orang Amerika dan Imigran dalam film produksi Amerika.Teori-teori yang digunakan adalah Hegemoni Gramsci dan Semiotika Barthes.Dalam penelitian tergambarkan bahwa ada hegemoni pada film produksi Columbia pitures ini.Secara kasat mata, dalam film tidak terlihat terjadinya hegemoni, namun setelah di analisis secara semiotika ditemukan adanya ideologi terselubung yaitu Rasisme dan Amerikanisme.Representasi identitas budaya yang dibangun oleh media ini bisa membantu kelompok dominan untuk melanggengkan ideologinya. Oleh karena itu, para peneliti menyarankan para sineas film bisa lebih berhati-hati dalam membangun makna melalui film mereka, karena film yang ditonton akan memberikan kontribusi kepada penonton atau merendahkan kelas subordinat.

This Thesis is trying to break down the american dominance in film Spanglish. The Film tells the story of immigrants Mexico who worksin American family as a housekeeper. This film is analyzed by a semiotics Barthes to see inequality inside cultural identity of Americans and immigrants. The research used hegemony theory Gramsci and semiotic technique of Roland Barthes's model. In research reflected that there are hegemony on this Columbia pictures Film. In this film, hegemony is not seen, but after it is analyzed by semiotic covert ideology have been found which are Racism and Americanism. The representation of cultural identity that built by media can help to perpetuate its ideology of dominant group. Therefore, the researcher suggestthe filmmakers to be more careful in constructing meaning through their films, since film has contribution to the audience in degrading the subordinate classes."

"Artikel ini membahas mengenai representasi imigran Turki dalam film “Almanya: Willkommen in Deutschland”. Analisis ini menggunakan metode studi pustaka yang dilakukan secara deskriptif dan argumentatif. Dalam analisis ditunjukkan simbol yang digunakan dalam film untuk menunjukkan identitas budaya tokoh dari berbeda generasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa imigran Turki memiliki beragam identitas budaya karena pengaruh lingkungan tempat mereka berada.

This article discusses about representation of Turkish immigrants’ cultural identity in the film “Almanya: Willkommen in Deutschland”. The research used qualitative descriptive method based on literature study. The symbols that are used in the film show various cultural identities which are represented by different immigrant generations. The result of the research proves that cultural identity is a process of becoming than a fixed substance. It is not determined by the place we live."

"Multikulturalisme telah menjadi suatu realitas yang terjadi sejak dulu, sebagai suatu wacana telah berkembang sejak sepuluh tahun terakhir. Di dalam masyarakat wacana ini mengalami hambatan, karena dengan adanya realitas ini maka tentunya dibutuhkan suatu sudut pandang yang baru bagi masing-masing individu untuk menyikapinya. Masalah utama yang dihadapi oleh multikulturalisme adalah pen-stereotip-an dari identitas seseorang. Pen-stereotip-an semacam ini dapat menciptakan terjadinya konflik, bahkan terciptanya perang. Masalah-masalah semacam inilah yang kemudian dijadikan tema utama dalam film-film pada saat ini sebagai suatu representasi dari realitas yang ada. Salah satu contohnya adalah film Kebab Connection. Film ini bercerita mengenai kehidupan seorang pemuda Turki yang tinggal di Jerman dan bercita-cita untuk membuat film kungfu pertama di Jerman. Ia kemudian membantu pamannya membuat iklan pendek untuk mempromosikan restoran kebab milik pamannya. Sementara itu pacarnya hamil, dan berita ini menjadi masalah besar bagi hubungannya dengan keluarganya dan ia pun diusir oleh ayahnya"

"Penelitian ini juga mencatat tentang pentingnya diskusi interpersonal di antara publik. Ini terbukti dari banyaknya jawaban publik tentang issue-issue yang kontroversial yang tidak lagi banyak diekspos oleh media. Issue-issue ini banyak di jadi kan topik pembincaraan antara publik karena menariknya hingga publik terpengaruh untuk juga menggap issue ini sebagal penting. Dari hasil penelitian terbukti bahwa untuk politik publik dipengaruhi oleh pemberitaan majalah Tempo, sementara kompas berpengaruh hanya untuk masalah sosial: sedangkan untuk masalah ekonomi nampak tidak ada hubungan antara kedua media dengan publiknya. Variabel -variabel kontrol yang diduga membuat hubungan antara agenda media dan agenda publik bervariasi dalam penelitian ini tidak terbukti.

This study also notes the importance of interpersonal discussions among the public. This is evident from the many public responses to controversial issues that are no longer widely exposed by the media. These issues are often used as topics of discussion among the public because they are interesting to the point that the public is influenced to also consider these issues as important. The results of the study prove that for politics the public is influenced by Tempo magazine coverage, while Kompas only influences social issues: while for economic issues there seems to be no relationship between the two media and their publics. The control variables that are thought to vary the relationship between the media agenda and the public agenda were not proven in this study.

"Penelitian ini membahas mengenai representasi isu-isu sosial budaya dan spiritual masyarakat imigran muslim Arab di Amerika yang ditemukan dalam serial televisi Amerika Ramy. Tontonan serial televisi karya Ramy Youssef ini menarik untuk dikaji karena mengandung cerminan perjuangan dan dilema masyarakat Arab muslim sebagai minoritas di Amerika Serikat. Hasil penelitian ini adalah jenis representasi intensional paling banyak digunakan dalam serial TV ini karena sifatnya yang dapat menccerminkan intensi pribadi tiap tokoh. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah musim pertama dari serial televisi berbahasa Arab dan Inggris yang berjudul Ramy tahun 2019. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif bersifat deskriptif. Adapun untuk menyampaikan makna-makna simbolis dari serial televisi Ramy penulis menggunakan teori representasi Stuart Hall. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menguraikan bagaimaana isu-isu identitas budaya dan spiritual survival masyarakat imigran Arab muslim direpresentasikan dalam adegan-adegan serial televisi tersebut.

This study discusses the representation of socio-cultural and spiritual issues of Arab Muslim immigrant communities in America which are found in the American television series Ramy. This television series by Ramy Youssef is interesting to study because it reflects the struggle and identity dilemma of the Muslim Arab community as a minority in the United States. The result of this study is that intentional representation type is the most widely used in this TV series because of its nature which can reflect the personal intentions of each character. The data source for this research is the first season of the American television series entitled Ramy in 2019 televised in both Arabic and English. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method. As for conveying the symbolic meanings of the television series Ramy, the writer uses Stuart Hall's representation theory. The purpose of this study is to describe the cultural and spiritual identity issues of Arab Muslim immigrant communities represented in the television series' scenes."

"Penelitian ini tentang pengunaan narasi penyelamat kulit putih di produk media massa seperti film. Fokus riset ini adalah bagaimana naratif penyelamat kulit putih memperkuat whiteness-keputihan sebagai norma dan melakukan penandaan social terhadap minoritas di sebuah negara multikultural seperti Amerika Serikat. Sebagai riset kualitatatif sekunder, penelitian ini adalah sebuah analysis film terhadap Green Book (2018) melalui teknik perfilman yang digunakan seperti mise-en-scene yang membentuk gaya dan sosok film tersebut. Riset ini telah menemukan bahwa narasi white savior--penyelamat kulit putih memperkuat keputihan dengan menggambarkan rasisme melalui perspektif seorang kulit putih; menyampaikan bahwa rasisme adalah sebuah hasil dari ketidaksadaran dibanding sebuah ketidakadilan sistemis; dan membuatkan karakter minoritasnya diselamatkan oleh karakter utama yang kulit putih. Minoritas ditandai secara social dengan penggunaan stereotip dan cara lain. Salah satu rekomendasi untuk riset ini adalah riset primer tentang persepsi para penonton film dengan narasi penyelamat kulit putih.

This paper is about the use of white savior narratives in mass media products such as film. The focus of this research is to see how white savior narratives in film reinforce the whiteness as the norm and socially mark minorities in a multicultural society such as the United States. As a secondary qualitative research, this paper is a film analysis of Green Book (2018) through its chosen film techniques such as mise-en-scene that creates its form and style. The research has found that white savior narratives reinforce whiteness by presenting racism through the perspective of a white main character; presenting racism as a ignorance rather than a systemic injustice; and having the minority character saved by the white main character. Minorities are socially marked through the use of stereotypes and other ways. One of the recommendations for this paper is primary research towards audience perception of white savior narratives in film."

"[ ABSTRAKTulisan ini merupakan studi terhadap industri perfilman nasional dalam menghadapi masuknya impor film Hollywood di Indonesia. Kondisi ini kemudian dianalisis melalu sudut pandang regulasi dengan mengidentifikasi sejumlah regulasi yang diterbitkan oleh Pemerintah Indonesia untuk mengetahui apakah kebijakan perfilman yang diterapkan saat ini apakah sudah melindungi kepentingan perfilman nasional; yaitu menciptakan industri perfilman nasional yang memiliki daya saing dalam menghadapi masuknya film impor Hollywood di Indonesia. Sehingga pembahasan dari penelitian ini mencakup; kebijakan tarif bea masuk film impor, kuota film impor, pajak film impor, subsidi terhadap produksi film domestik, persyaratan ijin untuk mengimpor film asing, dan ketentuan minimum jam tayang film lokal sebanyak 60%. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kajian literatur. Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini adalah ditemukan sejumlah regulasi perfilman yang ditetapkan oleh Pemerintah, salah satunya adalah UU No.33 Tahun 2009 tentang Perfilman. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah ditemukannya regulasi yang melindungi perfilman nasional namun terdapat juga kebijakan yang justru melemahkan industri perfilman nasional.

ABSTRACT

This paper is talking about Indonesia national film industry studies in facing to Hollywood film imported in Indonesia. This situation were analyzed through the implementation of film industry regulation which officialy decided by government of Indonesia according to protecting national film industry needs. This paper will tell us more about tax regulation for imported film , imported film quota, how government subsidized local film production, and screen-time quota for local film in cinema. Furthermore, this paper is literature review methods analysis. Finally, we could conclude that there are some of regulation which support to national film industry protection.
