"ABSTRAKTesis ini membahas adanya pengukuhan stereotip perempuan Cina dan keturunannya di Amerika yang direpresentasikan oleh tiga tokoh perempuan tiga generasi dalam opera The Bonesetter rsquo;s Daughter 2001 yang merupakan alih wahana dari novel berjudul sama. Menggunakan metode kajian alih wahana dari Sapardi Djoko Damono dan Linda Hutcheon, tahap pertama analisis adalah membandingkan perubahan struktur tekstual novel dan opera. Temuan dari analisis struktural, kemudian dibahas aspek ras dan gendernya dengan menggunakan konsep stereotip ras dan gender, serta dibaca dengan pendekatan feminisme multikultural. Hasil analisis memperlihatkan bahwa terdapat pergeseran gambaran perempuan di opera yang kontras dengan penggambaran di dalam novel. Ketiga tokoh perempuan di dalam novel bergerak melawan tradisi dan stereotip yang masih digunakan oleh masyarakat di lingkungannya, namun ketiga tokoh perempuan beda generasi tersebut tetap melakukan resistensi demi mencapai kebebasannya sebagai individu. Sedangkan di opera, usaha resistensi tersebut berkurang banyak, sehingga perempuan dari tiga generasi tersebut digambarkan lebih patuh terhadap tradisi yang sejalan dengan stereotip selama ini.

ABSTRACTThis thesis discusses the affirmation of stereotypes of Chinese women and their descendants in America represented by three female characters of three generations in the opera The Bonesetter 39 s Daughter 2001 which is the adaptation from its novel. Applying the adaptation study method from Sapardi Djoko Damono and Linda Hutcheon, the first stage of the analysis was to compare changes in the textual structure of novel and opera. The findings of structural analysis, then discussed the aspects of race and gender by using the concept of racial and gender stereotypes, and read the material with the approach of multicultural feminism. The results of the analysis show that there is a shift in the image of women in opera that contrasts with the depiction in the novel. The three female characters in the novel move against traditions and stereotypes that are still used by people in their environment, and the three female characters of different generations are still doing resistance in order to achieve their freedom as individuals. While in the opera, resistance efforts are much reduced, so women of three generations are described as more obedient to the tradition that is in line with the long run stereotype."

"Tesis ini berusaha menjabarkan bagaimana tradisi dan modernitas mengonstruksi identitas tokoh utama novel The Bonesetter's Daughter Karya Amy Tan. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode Strukturalisme yang dipadukan dengan pendekatan yang berfokus pada isu identitas, tradisi, dan modernitas. Ruth, tokoh utama novel ini, melewati beberapa tahapan konstruksi identitas. Di setiap tahap tersebut identitas ini diposisikan oleh dirinya sendiri, tokoh lain, dan narator serta teknik narasi yang digunakan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa posisi-posisi identitas yang diambil Ruth di tahapan-tahapan tersebut mencerminkan bahwa ada variasi sikap dalam memandang tradisi dan modernitas.

This thesis attempts to describe the ways in which tradition and modernity affect the identity construction of the main character of the novel The Bonesetter's Daughter by Amy Tan. The method employed in this research is the Structuralist method, which is combined with an approach that focuses on the issues of identity, tradition, and modernity. Ruth, the main character of the novel, undergoes several phases of identity construction. In each phase, her identity is positioned not only by herself, but also by other characters, the narrator, and the narrative techniques used. The results of the analysis show that the identity position assumed in each phase reflects the presence of variations in the attitude towards tradition and modernity."

"Penelitian ini membahas tentang perubahan konsep perempuan Jawa pada tokoh Siti dalam film Opera Jawa (2006) arahan Garin Nugroho yang merupakan alih wahana dari Ramayana. Tujuan penelitian ini ialah menampilkan perubahan konsep perempuan Jawa dari tokoh Siti, yaitu kesetiaan, gemati, dan bekti. Analisis dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teori alih wahana modality media Lars Ellestrom dan teori gender dengan pendekatan unsur naratif Roland Barthes dan sinematografis film. Penelitian ini menghasilkan bahwa dalam tokoh Siti pada Opera Jawa mengalami perubahan konsep perempuan Jawa.

This Studies discusses change of Javanese women concepts in Siti's character at Opera Jawa (2006), Garin Nugroho movie's which is the intermediality from the Ramayana. This study aims to find Javanese women concepts change in Siti's character, that is loyalty, gemati, and bekti. Analysis in this study uses modality media intermediality theory from Lars Ellestrom and gender theory with narative approach from Roland Barthes and cinematographic films. ABSTRACTThis research discusses the changes of the plot in adaptation of novel titled HongGildong Jeon to series titled Kwaedo Hong Gildong. This research was conductedto describe the changes happened in the plot and the goal of plot changing thatoccured in the adaptation process. The method used in this research wasdescriptive-qualitative approach with analysis focused on the intrinsic elements ofliterature, especially the plot. Results suggest that changes happen in the type ofplot based on criteria number and time order. In addition, there are also changes tothe events that occur in stages plot. The plot changing aims to make the storymore complex and interesting in accordance with the needs of television series."

"Karya-karya kontemporer Prancis yang berupa karya sastra dan juga sinema di Prancis memiliki tema yang sangat bervariasi. Sebagai salah satu penulis kontemporer Prancis, Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt menciptakan karya adaptasi dari novel menjadi sebuah film dengan judul Oscar et la Dame Rose. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan bagaimana kedua karya menunjukkan tema humanisme dan spiritualitas melalui interaksi antartokoh di dalam cerita. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan struktural dan alih wahana yang dikemukakan oleh Hutcheon (2006) dalam melakukan analisis teks. Selain itu, konsep spiritualitas yang berkaitan dengan fenomena manusia dari Pierre Teilhard de Chardin digunakan dalam penelitian ini untuk menganalisis bagaimana spiritualitas disimbolkan di dalam kedua karya sebagai sebuah proses sepanjang hidup manusia. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pengalihwahanaan teks menjadi film dilakukan dengan menggunakan strategi yang mengandalkan dinamika hubungan antartokoh utama. Pengubahan profil tokoh Madame Rose di dalam film menjadi salah satu aspek signifikan yang membuat konflik cerita menjadi lebih menarik untuk ditonton, juga menguatkan tema humanis yang terdapat dalam kedua karya. French contemporary works in the form of literature as well as cinema in France consisted of various themes. The diversity of themes is influenced by the freedom and perceptions of each writer in creating his work in the period. As a contemporary French writer, Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt created an adaptation of a novel which he wrote himself to a film under the same title: Oscar et la Dame Rose. This article aims to describe how the two works show the themes of humanism and spirituality through interactions between the characters in the plot. This article uses a qualitative research method with a structural approach and adaptation studies as written by Hutcheon (2006) in conducting analysis. In addition to that, the concept of spirituality related to spirituality and the phenomenon of man from Pierre Teilhard de Chardin is used in this study to analyze how spirituality symbolized in both of the works as a lifelong process in a man’s life. The results of this study indicate that the adaptation of the novel to the big screen is using a strategy that relies on the dynamics of the relationship between the two main characters. The differences of the Madame Rose character in the film is one of the significant aspects that make the plot more interesting to watch, while also strengthens the humanist theme contained in both works. In addition, spirituality is presented in this film philosophically instead of dogmatically to complement the theme of humanism from the point of view of Catholicism."

"Geez and Ann merupakan novel pertama karya Rintik Sedu. Novel ini menjadi populer sehingga Rizki Balki mengadaptasinya menjadi sebuah film. Alih wahana dari Geez and Ann diteliti menggunakan kajian ekranisasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan perubahan-perubahan dan aspek yang memengaruhinya dalam ekranisasi novel Geez and Ann. Metode analisis penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif komparatif. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah kajian pustaka dan observasi dengan teknik catat serta sumber datanya ialah novel Geez and Ann dan film Geez and Ann. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa dalam film terdapat penambahan unsur-unsur cerita yang cukup mencolok, salah satunya adalah adanya penambahan pada unsur tokoh dan penokohan. Selain itu, ada pengurangan atau penciutan yang terjadi pada film. Hal ini disebabkan oleh berbagai faktor, salah satunya adalah durasi. Kemudian, terdapat juga perubahan bervariasi dalam film yang dimunculkan melalui dialog, eksekusi adegan, modifikasi latar, dan lain sebagainya.

Geez and Ann is Rintik Sedu's first novel. This novel became so popular that it attracted Rizki Balki to adapt this novel into a film. Ecranization of Geez and Ann was investigated using an ecranization study. This study aims to describe the changes and aspects that affect them in the ecranization of the novel Geez and Ann. The analytical method of this research uses a comparative descriptive method. The data collection method used is literature and observation with note-taking techniques. Also, used the data source of the novel Geez and Ann and the film Geez and Ann. The results of the study conclude that in the film there are additional story elements that are quite striking, one of them is the addition of character and characterization elements. In addition, there is a reduction or shrinkage that occurs in the film. It is caused by various factors, one of which is duration. Then, there are also various forms of change in the film that appear through dialogue, scene execution, background modification and so on."

"Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan perbedaan yang terdapat dalam novel Gadis Kretek karya Ratih Kumala dengan serial Gadis Kretek karya sutradara Kamila Andini dan Ifa Isfansyah berupa alur, periodisasi, dan tokoh serta penokohan yang dianalisis melalui perspektif teori alih wahana. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah novel Gadis Kretek dan serial Gadis Kretek. Data penelitian dalam penelitian ini adalah kata-kata dan kalimat dalam novel Gadis Kretek serta dialog dan simbol yang terdapat di dalam serial Gadis Kretek. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah dengan menggunakan teknik baca, simak, dan catat. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat tiga jenis alih wahana pada serial Gadis Kretek, yaitu penambahan, pengurangan, dan perubahan variasi. Penambahan terdapat pada perubahan peran Soedjagad dan kaitannya dengan Partai Merah. Pengurangan terdapat pada periodisasi di serial Gadis Kretek yang hanya terdiri dari dua jenis, yaitu masa muda Soeraja dan masa tua Soeraja. Perubahan variasi terdapat pada perubahan dari Partai Komunis Indonesia menjadi Partai Merah, perubahan nama Sentot menjadi Seno, perubahan profesi Lebas, dan perubahan karakter Jeng Yah.

This research aims to explain the differences between the novel Gadis Kretek by Ratih Kumala and the Gadis Kretek series by directors Kamila Andini and Ifa Isfansyah in terms of plot, periodization, characters, and characterization. These differences will be analyzed through the perspective of ecranization theory. This research used a qualitative descriptive method. The data sources in this research are the novel Gadis Kretek and the Gadis Kretek series. The research data in this study are the words and sentences from the novel Gadis Kretek, as well as dialogues and symbols contained in the Gadis Kretek series. The data collection techniques involve reading, observing, and noting. The result of this research is the presence of three types of adaptation in the Gadis Kretek series, namely addition, subtraction, and variation change. Addition is found in the change of Soedjagad's role and its relation to the Partai Merah. Subtraction is found in the periodization in the Gadis Kretek series, which only consists of two types, namely the young Soeraja period and the old Soeraja period. Variation change is found in the transformation from the Partai Komunis Indonesia to the Partai Merah, the change of Sentot's name to Seno, Lebas's change of profession, and the change in Jeng Yah's character."

"Alih wahana adalah proses perubahan bentuk dari satu jenis karya seni menjadi jenis lain. Tulisan ini mengkaji alih wahana yang terjadi pada puisi "Hujan Bulan Juni" menjadi novel. Permasalahan yang diangkat dalam tulisan ini adalah perubahan apa saja yang terjadi dan bagaimana perubahan tersebut digambarkan. Kemudian efek apa yang timbul dari alih wahana ini. Metode yang digunakan penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif. Setelah melalui penelitian, diperoleh hasil bahwa terjadi cukup banyak perubahan yang terjadi, seperti tokoh, latar, dan permasalahan.
